Men's Soccer PC Athletic Communications

Cordova, Baerwalde, Kalala, and Krask Earn All-Big South Accolades

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Four members of the Presbyterian Blue Hose men's soccer team earned All-Big South honors as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Senior midfielder Steven Cordova was a First Team All-Big South honoree. Senior goalkeeper Tim Baerwalde was named Second Team All-Big South. Senior midfielder Iragi Kalala was an Honorable Mention All-Big South selection. Redshirt junior Rivers Krask was named to the Big South All-Academic team.

Presbyterian's four All-Big South selections have played an integral role in helping the Blue Hose earn the third seed in the Big South Conference Tournament, which begins with a quarterfinal game in Martin Stadium against Radford on Wednesday night.

Steven CordovaSTEVEN CORDOVA
Cordova is the eighth different player in the Blue Hose men's soccer program's history to be named First Team All-Big South. Last season, Cordova was a Second Team All-Big South selection, so he is the seventh player in school history to earn multiple All-Big South accolades. The Statesville, North Carolina, has ranked amongst the Big South leaders in assists in each of the last two seasons. He enters the Big South Conference Tournament with three goals (with two of them being game-winners) and four assists.

Tim BaerwaldeTIM BAERWALDE
Baerwalde is the first goalkeeper in school history to be named either First and Second Team All-Big South. This season, Baerwalde has recorded six shutouts, which is tied for the second-highest single-season total in Presbyterian's Division I era. The Frankfurt, Germany native claimed the Big South Defensive Player of the Week award on October 20.
 
Iragi KalalaIRAGI KALALA
Kalala leads the Blue Hose with five goals. The Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo native is tied for seventh in the Big South with his career-high five goals.
 
Rivers KraskRIVERS KRASK
Krask, who has a 3.90 GPA majoring in Biochemistry, earned Big South All-Academic team honors. In the classroom, Krask has been a three-time member of the President's and Dean's List as well as a three-time Big South Presidential Honor Roll selection. The Pawleys Island, South Carolina native has played an integral role on a Blue Hose defense that has posted six shutouts this season.
