LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The #7 Presbyterian College women's wrestling team assembled possibly its best overall performance of the young season on Wednesday afternoon, going 3-0 at the Desert Duals in Las Vegas and beating fifth-ranked Colorado Mesa as well as eighth-ranked Simon Fraser.

PC scored 20 of the last 24 points to shock the Mavericks by a 21-19 final margin, carrying that momentum into a 31-14 decision over SFU and a 46-3 whipping against Albion to close the three-way.

Kassey Daugherty (131), Isabella Gretzinger (180), and true freshman Kaylie Hall (160) each won all three of their matches in Sin City. Daugherty was perhaps the most impressive, beating two nationally-ranked opponents in a row.

That's not to mention a 10-0 technical fall by Maddie Kubicki over sixth-ranked Gretchen Donally in the CMU dual, as well as a 15-4 tech by Maria Aiono versus eighth-ranked Heaven Cole in the win over Albion.

Presbyterian has now defeated nine top-20 schools in dual play over the past two seasons, boosting their fall record to 7-2 with another intriguing bout against Frostburg State looming this Friday.


 
NOTABLES
 

- A program that was in search of their third consecutive win against Colorado Mesa (having also beaten them at the NWCA National Duals over the last couple years), PC needed to overcome a 15-1 mid-match deficit to take down the #5 Mavericks.

- Daugherty, Kubicki, and Zoe Griffith picked up three tech's in quick succession, while another 10-0 technical by Gretzinger gave Presby their first lead of the dual with one match left.

- Ending the CMU affair with a 20-4 sprint, the Blue Hose carried that momentum into the next matchup with Simon Fraser and never trailed at any point.

- A 1:12 pin by Hall over #11 Lene McCrackin pushed the PC advantage to 15 on the team score, clinching their second W against a top-ten foe within two hours of one another.

- Head coach Brian Vutianitis' gang was impenetrable against Albion to complete the sweep, never losing any of the nine non-forfeits to win by 43 points. It's their largest margin of victory since a 50-0 result over Emory & Henry last spring.

- The lopsided margin against the Britons was PC's fifth time reaching at least 40 points in a dual this season. They scattered five pins against Albion, with Kubicki and Jenna Anderson each doing so in less than 60 seconds.
