PC Falls to Radford in Conference Opener

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team (2-12, 0-1 Big South) dropped its first contest of Big South play, falling to Radford 75-32 on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31) at the Templeton Center.

 

The Highlanders held PC to its lowest offensive output of the season, limiting the Blue Hose to just 20.4 percent shooting from the field for the afternoon. 


Ja'Cia Cunningham led Presbyterian in scoring for the game with 10 points. She has scored in double figures six times this season and 25 times in her career. Samantha Mullock made her first career collegiate three-pointer for the Blue Hose. Aminata Tal drilled her fourth three overall of the season.

 

Daniella Velez tied her career-high with four steals against the Highlanders. Amani Williams recorded her first career blocked shot.

  

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter

Radford scored the opening points of the game on its first possession before the Blue Hose jumped out to an early 3-2 lead following a layup from Krystal Haddock. However, the Highlanders took control of the game right after. Radford embarked on a 16-0 run, taking an 18-3 lead with under two minutes to play in the opening quarter. Aminata Tal ended the run with a three, but the Highlanders grabbed an 18-7 advantage after the first period.

 


Second Quarter
The Highlanders continued to separate out of the gate in the second quarter, opening the quarter on a 15-0 run. Yolanda Floyd scored PC's first points of the quarter with 3:25 left in the half on a jumper. She scored again moments later, but the Highlanders cruised to a 35-14 lead at the break.

 

 

Third Quarter
Allie Sykes made a three to open the scoring for the Blue Hose in the second half. Halfway through the third, Krystal Haddock added a free throw for PC. The Highlanders went on another big run the rest of the quarter, going up 52-18 going into the final period. Sykes' three to open the second half was the only basket of the quarter for the Blue Hose.

 

 

Fourth Quarter
Samantha Mullock drained a three in Presbyterian's first possession of the fourth quarter. Ja'Cia Cunningham got going offensively for the Blue Hose in the final period, scoring all 10 of her points on the afternoon. Morgan Boyd added a free throw as well for the Blue Hose, but Radford finished the afternoon with a 75-32 victory to begin conference action.

 


UP NEXT
The Blue Hose will begin 2026 with a road trip to Longwood this weekend, facing the Lancers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 3).
