PC Drops Road Game at High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team (4-18, 2-7) was unable to see victory against the High Point Panthers (12-10, 7-2) on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter

The Panthers took the first two baskets of the night, gaining an early 4-0 lead. Paige Kindseth's layup put the Blue Hose on the board before we were sent to the first media timeout with PC trailing 6-4. After the break, the opponents were able to take seven unanswered points, forcing Presby to use a timeout. Ashley Carrillo was next to score as she sank a floater in the paint. A three-point play by the Panthers followed, but Anderson answered with a contested layup to close out the quarter with PC trailing 16-8.

Second Quarter
High Point came out strong in the second quarter, taking the first four points. Some solid defense from both sides brought us to the media timeout at 20-8. HPU sank a triple before the Blue Hose closed out the first half with a dominant eight-point run, cutting High Point's cushion to 25-17.

Third Quarter
A pair of three-point buckets from HPU began the second half before Kindseth halted their streak with a layup. The next four points went to the opponents, but Shelby Fiddler answered with her first three of the night. An exchange of points set the score at 37-24 at the media break. Four points from High Point extended their lead to 41-24 before a pair of fouls gave PC three points. We then saw two more baskets from the Panthers before Aminata Tal made a solid contested layup. The quarter ended with High Point in front 47-29.

Fourth Quarter
A basket from the opponents opened the final quarter, but Tal responded with a three-point play. Not long after, Anderson drained a pullup jumper, but High Point scored the next six points, forcing Presbyterian to call a timeout while trailing 57-34. The Blue Hose were able to string together an eight-point run, led by six points from Morgan Boyd. A three-pointer from the other side ended Presby's streak and the Panthers went on to close out the game 62-43.
