PC Falls to Buccaneers on the Road

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team (5-19, 3-8) fell to the Charleston Southern Buccaneers (11-14, 7-5) on the road on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
Charleston Southern came out strong, quickly jumping to a 6-0 lead, forcing Presbyterian to call an early timeout. The Buccaneers continued to build on their advantage after the break until Kishyah Anderson sparked the Blue Hose with a steal and coast-to-coast finish for their first points. Aminata Tal followed with a smooth layup, but CSU responded with an 8-0 run to stretch the lead to 22-6. Presbyterian found some momentum late in the quarter, with Paige Kindseth contributing five points, but the Buccaneers remained in control, leading 24-13 after the first.

Second Quarter
The second quarter saw a more balanced start, with Shelby Fiddler knocking down back-to-back three-pointers to trim Presbyterian's deficit to 32-23. Following a CSU timeout, Tal added another basket, but the Buccaneers responded with four quick points. The Blue Hose answered with an eight-point surge, fueled by four points from Kindseth and a clutch three-pointer from Daniella Velez. CSU converted a three-point play with just over a minute remaining, but Velez had the final word, sinking a layup just before the buzzer to bring PC within four at halftime, 39-35.

Third Quarter
The Bucs came out strong in the third quarter, claiming eight of the first 11 points to extend their lead to 47-38. Velez responded with her second three-pointer of the night, but CSU answered with back-to-back buckets, prompting a PC timeout. Out of the break, Catherine Alben drained her fourth three-pointer of the game, pushing the Buccaneers' lead to 13. The teams traded baskets, bringing the score to 60-45 before Tal came up with a steal and converted it into a bucket. In the final moments of the quarter, CSU added another three, while Kindseth and Sonia Sato contributed baskets for PC, but the Blue Hose faced a 63-51 deficit heading into the fourth.

Fourth Quarter
Anderson opened the scoring in the final quarter, but CSU quickly responded with four points. The Blue Hose fought back, claiming seven of the next nine points behind a three-pointer from Tal and two layups from Anderson. However, the Buccaneers regained control with a five-point burst, pushing their lead to 74-60 as the game entered the media timeout with 4:36 remaining.
