PC Battles Hard but Can’t Overcome Asheville in Home Finale

CLINTON, S.C. – In their final home game of the 2024-25 season, the Presbyterian College women's basketball team (6-22, 4-11) battled hard but fell short against UNC Asheville (3-25, 1-14), dropping a 67-60 decision.

Before tipoff, senior guard Paige Kindseth and junior guard/forward Kishyah Anderson were honored for their impressive career milestones. Kindseth recently surpassed 500 career rebounds, while Anderson eclipsed 1,000 career points at the collegiate level.

The game also served as a platform to raise awareness for those affected by cancer. The team extends its gratitude to everyone who wore pink in support of the cause and contributed to the Play4Kay Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Those still wishing to donate can find more information [HERE].

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
PC struck first, with Kindseth and Anderson combining for a quick 4-0 lead. Asheville responded to tie it at 6-6, but a three-pointer from Aminata Tal helped the Blue Hose edge ahead, 9-7, at the end of the opening period.

Second Quarter
The Bulldogs opened the second quarter with six straight points, taking a 13-9 advantage. Kindseth answered with back-to-back buckets to even the score, but a three-point play from Asheville swung momentum back in their favor. An 8-0 run extended the Bulldog's lead to 21-13. Anderson briefly halted the surge with a steal and layup, but Asheville closed out the half with four more points, sending PC into the break trailing 25-15.

Third Quarter
After Asheville took the first basket of the second half, Presbyterian responded with a 10-0 run, fueled by four points from Anderson and two three-pointers from Shelby Fiddler. That rally cut the deficit to just two, 29-27, at the media timeout. Tal then sank two free throws to tie the game before Fiddler's third triple of the night gave PC the lead. However, the Bulldogs answered with a 7-3 run, reclaiming a 36-35 edge heading into the final quarter.

Fourth Quarter
Fiddler kept her hot hand going, draining her fourth three-pointer to open the fourth and put PC back in front. Asheville tied it at 38-38, but Anderson responded with four straight points to maintain the lead for the Blue Hose. The Bulldogs then seized control, scoring 10 of the next 12 points to go up 48-44. Once again, Anderson stepped up, scoring four quick points to tie the game at 48 with just over five minutes remaining. Asheville took the lead 54-50 before Anderson converted a three-point play to cut the gap to one. The back-and-forth battle continued, with the Bulldogs knocking down a three and Kindseth answering with a layup. With 1:07 left, Asheville held a 59-55 lead when the Bulldog's Dakota McCaughan drained a deep three as the shot clock expired—her fourth of the quarter—pushing the margin to 62-55. Despite PC's late efforts, the Bulldogs held on for a 67-60 victory.
