CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team is set to host their home opener on Thursday, February 6 against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers before making the trip to Cullowhee for a battle with the Western Carolina Catamounts.

A LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
Presbyterian was picked fourth in the Big South's annual preseason poll after returning five letterwinners from last year's squad and taking in four newcomers to the roster. Last spring, the Blue Hose won 46.3 percent of their total singles matches and 58.6 of their doubles matches. Junior
Claudia Sanchez led the team in singles with a 13-6 record including a 4-1 tally against league opponents.
McKenzie Davis was not far behind with an 11-9 mark. Sanchez teamed up with
Valentina De Sousa in a majority of doubles matches last season where they earned an 8-4 record with a 3-2 mark in conference play. Sanchez, Davis, and De Sousa will all be competing this spring.
SCOUTING THE CHANTICLEERS
- Coastal Carolina has compete in two matches so far this season, falling to No. 20 South Carolina and Campbell.
- Freshmen Sarah Clark and Brunelle Kouam, along with sophomore Aida Mitrache each posted singles wins in their 4-3 loss against Campbell.
- Kouam teamed up with senior Nicole Abel at the No. 1 doubles position where they saw victory against Campbell's top pair.
- The last time that these two teams have was last season where Coastal Carolina won 5-2 at their place. The Chanticleers lead the all-time series between the two teams 13-0.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
- Western Carolina has taken a 3-2 record so far this season, falling to No. 12 Auburn in a doubleheader and picking up their wins over Young Harris, Davidson, and Tusculum. They will face App State on Saturday prior to their meeting with the Blue Hose the following day.
- Junior Jade Groen leads the team in singles with a 3-1 record with a pair of wins at the No. 1 position and one at the No. 2 slot.
- Senior Angela Perez and junior Madison Schwarz have also taken a 3-1 mark, with singles victories in all three of the team's wins this season.
- Groen and Schwarz lead the Catamounts in doubles with a 3-1 record, all of which were played at the No. 1 slot.
- Perez paired up with junior Isabella Sambola where they have also amassed a 3-1 doubles mark while competing at the No. 3 position.
- The last time that these two teams faced off was in 2023 where the Catamounts won 5-2 in Cullowhee. The Blue Hose lead the all-time series between the two teams 5-4-1.

Joel Roberts and the Blue Hose women's tennis team will compete in 22 matches throughout the spring, seven of which will be played here in Clinton at the Templeton Tennis Courts. In league play, PC will host UNC Asheville on April 2 and Radford on April 12.
