Two 16-Win Teams Go Head-to-Head as PC Hosts Wofford

CLINTON, S.C. – A matchup of two in-state opponents separated by less than 60 minutes, the Presbyterian College softball team concludes a seven-game homestand on Wednesday night when the Wofford Terriers come calling. Game time is set for 6:00 PM, broadcasted live by ESPN+.

Just the second-ever meeting between the two schools after Wofford first formed a softball team in 2024, tomorrow's contest features new rivals who have combined for 32 wins already this season.

The Blue Hose and head coach David Williams are surging upward following a 2-1 series triumph over Big South stalwart USC Upstate, winning the first conference series for the second consecutive year.

They did so thanks in large part to league Player of the Week Kendall Owens, who batted .500 over the weekend and tallied two doubles, a homer, and three RBI.

WOMEN'S WRESTLING AUTOGRAPHS

- Prior to the start of Wednesday's game, members of the 2025 Southeast Regional Championship Blue Hose Women's Wrestling team will be on hand for an autograph session.

- Finishing in 6th-place at the National Championship Tournament, the team will throw a ceremonial first pitch before PC faces Wofford. The Scotsmen sent 14 wrestlers to Nationals and earned a program-record six All-Americans.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

- Tomorrow was initially going to be round two between the Blue Hose and Wofford, although a planned February affair in Spartanburg was postponed due to weather. Instead, the first half of their two-game sequence will carry out in Clinton.

- While the Terriers display a 16-9 record after a respectable 23-win season in their first year of existence, Wofford has slumped a bit going into the PC collision. They've lost three of their last four to Gardner-Webb and South Dakota, dropping their most recent bout to the Coyotes on Saturday 8-2.

- Like Presbyterian, the Terriers have been plenty comfortable on their home turf, already playing 20 times in their own backyard. Head coach Chelsea Butler's club split their only two true road games of the year, beating Stetson 3-0 and then losing to the Hatters 1-0 the next day.

- Wofford's only previous appearance against the Blue Hose was an eight-inning drama 12 months ago, a game where the only run came from then-freshman Kasey Wolfe on a walk-off single.

LAST TIME OUT

- PC took a solid first step to the '25 Big South schedule, winning a weekend set over USC Upstate for the first time since the two became league mates six years ago.

- Owens continues her ascent into one of the nation's best mid-major players, hitting .590 since March 2 and leading everyone in the conference with an OPS of 1.250. She's assembled at least two hits nine times out of her last 13 showings.

- In Saturday's pitcher's duel where the Blue Hose took down the Spartans, coach Williams' bullpen held Upstate to their lowest scoring total since the opening weekend of the season over a month ago.

- Wolfe and starter Peyton Duncan let just four hits slide over 27 at-bats, shutting out their archnemesis for the final six innings of play. PC has now won 39 games at home since the start of the 2023 season, scoring at least eight runs against eight different opponents.
