HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hose wasted no time getting on the board, striking for three runs in the top of the first. Trey Fenderson got things rolling with a double down the left field line before Jake Randolph followed with an RBI single to bring him home. Moments later, Dewberry launched a two-run homer over the right field fence, giving PC an early 3-0 advantage.
- Presbyterian kept the pressure on in the second. Jackson Hugus drew a walk, and Eli Lazio followed with a double to left-center, putting two runners in scoring position with one out. Hugus then capitalized on a wild pitch, racing home to extend the lead to 4-0.
- Williams kept the Bulldogs' offense in check, holding them scoreless through four innings before Asheville pushed across runs in the fifth and sixth to trim PC's lead to 4-2.
- After quiet seventh and eighth innings, the Blue Hose broke it open in the ninth. Ryan Ouzts led off with a single, Hugus was hit by a pitch, and Brody Linker worked a walk to load the bases with no outs. Lazio delivered again, ripping his second double of the night to right field and plating two runs to make it 6-2. Fenderson followed with an RBI single, and after a Bulldogs pitching change, Randolph drew a walk to reload the bases. Rhogue Wallace capped the rally with a sacrifice fly, pushing PC's lead to 8-2.
- Asheville managed a one-out double in the bottom of the ninth before adding one final run to their tally, but Jacob Fields shut the door, striking out the side to secure the series-opening 8-3 win.
