Wallace Homers Twice, Blue Hose Fall Late at Radford

RADFORD, Va. – Despite a multi-homer day from Rhogue Wallace and a surge of offense in the third inning, the Presbyterian College baseball team (16-22, Big South: 8-7) came up just short in the series finale at Radford (20-19, Big South: 8-7), falling 9-8 after a late Highlander rally secured the sweep on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Wallace got the offense rolling right away, launching a solo home run as the game's leadoff batter to give PC a quick 1-0 lead.
• Radford answered in the bottom of the second to tie things up at 1-1.
• The Blue Hose erupted in the third. Wallace delivered again with a two-run homer—his second of the day—before Trey Fenderson followed with a blast to right center. Amman Dewberry capped the frame with a solo shot to right, giving PC three consecutive home runs and a 5-1 advantage.
• The Highlanders responded with two runs in the bottom half of the third, trimming the Blue Hose lead to 5-3.
• Radford then pulled ahead with a three-run fifth inning to take a 6-5 lead.
• Presbyterian answered in the sixth. Nick Smith opened the frame with a double and came around to score on a pair of wild pitches to knot the game at 6-6.
• Mikah Conner doubled to start the seventh, and Fenderson's bunt single plus a throwing error allowed Conner to score and Fenderson to move all the way to third. Dewberry then singled through the right side to plate Fenderson and push PC back in front, 8-6.
• Radford rallied one final time, plating three runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 9-8 lead.
• The Blue Hose were unable to answer in the ninth, as the Highlanders completed the series sweep.
