CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian Blue Hose head men's basketball coach
Quinton Ferrell announced the signing of the University of Denver transfer Josh Pickett, a 6-foot-5 guard from Plainfield, Illinois. Pickett saw action in 32 games with 15 starts as a freshman at Denver.
"We are very excited about the signing of Josh Pickett," Ferrell said. "Josh is coming off a great freshman season at the University of Denver. Josh is a guard who is blessed with great size and physicality, which allows him to impact the game in a myriad of ways on both the offensive & defensive end of the floor. Josh is also a standout student in the classroom, which reflects his commitment to excellence on and off the court. He has a tremendous work ethic and great pedigree as a basketball player. We look forward to welcoming Josh and his entire family into our Blue Hose family!"
In the 2024-25 season, Pickett averaged 5.4 points and 2.2 rebounds while playing in all 32 of Denver's games with 15 starts. He recorded five double-digit scoring games, chipping in a season-high 16 points while connecting on three three-point field goals against Omaha on January 15. In the quarterfinals of the Summit League Tournament, he scored 14 points while shooting 5-for-6 from the field against St. Thomas. He recorded at least four rebounds in eight games, including grabbing seven boards against Sacramento State on December 4.
Before playing at Denver, he enjoyed a standout high school career in Illinois, graduating from St. Laurence High School. He was ranked as a Top 50 player by the Chicago Sun-Times while earning All-Conference accolades twice after scoring over 1,000 points during his high school career. Pickett was a four-year starter and a two-time team captain who broke his school's 30-year-old record after connecting on 73 threes in the 2021 season. On December 14, 2022, he was named Chicago Tribune Player of the Week.
