CLINTON, S.C. – Sixth-year Presbyterian College lacrosse head coach
Eric Clakeley has announced two new signees to the Blue Hose program, welcoming midfielders Cali Cox and Sydney Howard to the PC family on Thursday afternoon.
An impactful high school senior located in Kentucky and a Division I transfer originally from Georgia, Clakeley's roster for the 2026 season will now include student-athletes from 10 different states as well as the country of Canada.
The Blue Hose won five matches in the most recent spring season, including a pair of memorable Big South road victories at Radford and Longwood. Three individuals were selected for All-Conference recognition, including junior defenseman
Avery West who captured a First Team nod.
CALI COX
Midfield | 5'4"
Eastern High School | Louisville, Ky.
Part of a regional championship team for three years running, Cox commits to Presbyterian following back-to-back State title game appearance in 2023 and 2024. Behind 172 career goals and 101 ground balls, she has twice been named All-State in Kentucky.
While playing for the EHS Eagles, Cox is the valedictorian of her class and is also a member of the Future Business Leaders of America. She plans to major in Business Administration while at PC.
"Cali is a fantastic addition to our freshman class", commented Clakeley. "While her journey got disrupted by the closing of an institution, we are glad it brought her to us. We look forward to seeing her compete this fall and beyond."
SYDNEY HOWARD
Midfield | 5'6"
North Forsyth High School | Cumming, Ga. | Eastern Michigan
Hailing from the same hometown as future Blue Hose teammates
Hannah Savage and
Kate Dominick, Howard has accepted a transfer bid to PC after spending her freshman season in college with Eastern Michigan of the Mid-American Conference.
Graduating from high school with a perfect 4.0 GPA, Howard decided to enroll with Presby because "I see an opportunity to contribute to this growing program, the supportive team culture, and the academic possibilities that align with my goals."
A Psychology major, Howard appeared in five games with Eastern Michigan last semester. Coincidentally, she scored her first collegiate goal against PC at Bailey Memorial Stadium on February 25, also registering an assist on that same evening.
"We are so excited to add Sydney to our roster", Clakeley remarked. "Our team was incredibly fortunate to not lose any players with remaining eligibility to the transfer portal, so we knew if we were going to seek out any transfers, it would need to be an impact player."
"Sydney is precisely that. She was someone we recruited out of high school and we are very happy that her journey has brought her home to Clinton."
