CLINTON, S.C. – Seventh-year Presbyterian College lacrosse head coach
Eric Clakeley has officially announced the program's upcoming 2026 schedule, set for 17 games and beginning on Sunday, February 6.
Clakeley – PC's head coach since 2020 – will send his troops to Coastal Carolina for the season-opener in just under two months. Presby will play nine non-conference bouts before competing against each of the eight Big South clubs.
The Blue Hose will make their '26 home debut on Sunday, February 15 versus Le Moyne. PC will suit up at Bailey Memorial Stadium nine times this spring, including four league meetings on their home turf.
"We believe our schedule creates excellent opportunity to showcase ourselves before Big South play", commented Clakeley. "We'll begin against a wildly talented Coastal Carolina opponent which will lead into rematches with Merrimack, Kennesaw State, FDU, and Delaware State."
"Factoring in first-time opponents from Manhattan, New Haven, Le Moyne, and Austin Peay, we'll know a lot about our team early on and get ourselves into position for a conference slate that is always challenging."
Presbyterian posted a 5-12 record last season, including three one-point victories over Mercyhurst, Radford, and Longwood.
FEBRUARY
- After starting with the Chanticleers, PC will enjoy a three-game home stretch against opponents who they've never faced before. Le Moyne, Austin Peay, and New Haven will each visit Clinton one week apart.
- PC's first four games are all lunchtime starts, spreading out the competition in February against schools from the ASUN and the Northeast Conference.
- In the case of Austin Peay, the Governors will be fielding their inaugural women's lacrosse team next spring. New Haven is also an evolving program, transitioning to the Division I level in 2026.
MARCH
- The Blue Hose will hit the road for their next three encounters as the schedule moves to March, going to Kennesaw State on the 4
th, Delaware State on the 7
th, and FDU on the 10
th.
- Presbyterian owns an 8-0 all-time record against DSU, with three of those wins coming under the Clakeley administration. They hammered the Hornets at Bailey Memorial last year, winning 18-6 as then-freshman
Emily Currie poured in seven goals.
- PC will travel to FDU after the Knights came to Clinton in 2025. The result of that affair was a 15-5 Blue Hose win, scoring five goals apiece in the 1
st and 3
rd quarters.
- Clakeley and co. will be very busy at the midway point of March, hosting Merrimack and Manhattan on the 13
th and 15
th to close the non-conference journey.
- They'll remain at Bailey Memorial on March 25 for the first Big South duel opposite Furman.
APRIL
- It's all conference games for the remainder of the season, as PC heads to league powerhouse Mercer on the first day of April. The Bears have claimed the last three Big South regular season and tournament championships.
- Presbyterian will not have to play back-to-back road games over the entirety of the league schedule, returning home on the 4
th to meet Radford. The Blue Hose defeated the Highlanders in a wacky outcome last time out, scoring just once in the second half but prevailing 13-12.
- The Scotsmen will turn to Boiling Spring, North Carolina on April 8 for a road feature with Gardner-Webb, coming back to Bailey Memorial three days later to face Longwood.
- Arguably PC's best win of 2025 was at the Lancers' expense, another 13-12 triumph that saw Currie tie it up with 1:21 on the clock and then
Emma Claire Mills flip in the game-winner with one solitary second left.
- Presby's penultimate road game will take place on the 18th: a short drive to Wofford. They'll play at home for the final time on the 22
nd when they lock horns with the Winthrop Eagles.
- The 2026 finale is labeled for April 25 as Clakeley's crew visits High Point for a noon matchup. That sets the stage for the Big South Tournament, starting on the 28
th.
POSTSEASON
- The top six teams in the conference standings will receive their spot in the Big South tourney, with the number one seed hosting both the semifinals and championship game on May 1 and 3 respectively.
- Twenty-nine teams will be invited to the NCAA Championship in mid-May, with the winner of the Big South title receiving an automatic bid to the big dance.
