COACH CLAKELEY COMMENTS
"Solid effort from our team today in some pretty rough weather conditions, but credit to Le Moyne as they were able to make a few more plays than we did.
"We will continue to build, and that's exactly what these non-conference games are about. Looking forward to the next opportunity on our home field."
NOTABLES
- Dominick has doubled her number of goals from all of last season in just eight quarters of work, as both of her scores came four minutes apart in the opening period.
- A major factor in Sunday's result came on Presby's difficulty in free-position attempts (two-of-eight). Le Moyne ended the affair with a plus-10 mark in total shots (28-18).
- Sophomore
Emily Currie and senior
Alyssa Perez each gathered their third goal of the young season, while Dominick added a couple of assists to her individual stat-line for a game-high six points.
- Keeper
Kayleigh Aitken thwarted seven Le Moyne shots as she logged the full 60 minutes, tying
Annabel Geisler for the team-lead in ground balls with three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The bulk of the match was played within a four-point window, as the Dolphins broke a two-all tie with 2:38 remaining in the first stanza.
- That was the beginning of a 4-0 spurt by the visitors, who took a 7-3 cushion into the locker room by scoring with five seconds to go on the 2
nd-period clock.
- Rittmueller and Perez narrowed the gap to 8-5 after back-to-back makes in the 3
rd, but Le Moyne answered with another late-quarter goal (this one with 25 ticks left) to take a 10-5 lead into the last frame.
- PC came as close as three down in the 4
th, although the comeback attempt was hindered by a six-minute stretch of no scoring from either team.
