CLINTON, S.C. – After the first match in a five-game homestand was unfortunately called off thanks to interference by the weather, the Presbyterian College women's soccer team will try again on Sunday afternoon as Alabama State comes calling at 1:00 PM.
ESPN+ will have live coverage of the event, as PC searches for their second straight win following a 2-1 W over South Carolina State one week earlier.
The Blue Hose are undefeated in their last three efforts against the Hornets dating back to 2018, beating ASU the last time they visited Martin Stadium in a 1-0 result.
Sunday's scuffle is the first half of a soccer doubleheader in Clinton, as the men's team faces off with Mount Olive at 7:00 later that evening.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
- Both teams will go into this weekend's affair with a mutual opponent between them, as Alabama State travels to S.C. State on Friday night. This follows ASU's season-opener where they fought back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the University of Mobile.
- In the span of eight minutes, the Hornets turned a two-score hole into a deadlock. True freshman Serenity Safeeullah had the match-tying kick with just over 11 minutes to go, named the SWAC Newcomer of the Week in the aftermath.
- Alicia Wilson was hired as Alabama State's second-ever women's soccer head coach back in March, spending the prior 10 seasons at Navarro College of the NJCAA ranks.
LAST TIME OUT
- Due to Thursday's cancellation of the Mercer match, PC's most recent encounter remains the win over South Carolina State in Orangeburg. They earned the victory thanks to a couple of long-range hits by
Harlan Lyons and
Emma Brown that fell 60 minutes apart from one another.
- Both players found their first college goal in the tight finish, noting the second time in head coach
Matt Smith's brief tenure with the Blue Hose that he's directed two players who both saw their first goal in the same outing.
- After shutting out The Citadel in the season-opener and keeping SC State off the board for the final 86 minutes, rookie keeper
Febe Dombrecht was chosen as the Big South Freshman of the Week. She's already logged 11 saves in two full-length matches, stopping 92 percent of opposing shots thus far.
GOOD IN THE CLUTCH
- Brown morphed a likely tie into a full-on Blue Hose win thanks to her game-winner in the 87
th minute, a Hail Mary of sorts from a great distance away. With her and Lyons both scoring first-time goals, that means that 12 different players have hit at least once since Smith took over in 2024.
- There are now five current players on Presby's roster that are responsible for at least one game-winner: Brown,
Sloan Spees,
Lindsey Malyszek,
Ella Williams, and
Emilia Lieber.
