Moss Collects First Career Win as Presbyterian Tops West Georgia

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team earned its first win of the 2025 season on Saturday, defeating West Georgia 3-1 to wrap up play at the Georgia State Invitational. The victory also marked the first career win at PC for head coach Maddie Moss. The Blue Hose secured the match with set scores of 25-18, 20-25, 25-12, and 25-22.
 
PC featured a balanced attack with four players posting nine or more kills. Julia Yurkovich led the way with 13 kills at a .222 hitting percentage, while Courtney Williams added 10 kills and four blocks. Ashley Miller chipped in 11 kills, and Ava Smith was efficient with nine kills on a .333 hitting percentage with four blocks. Setter Anisa Dorlouis directed the offense with 41 assists while also collecting 18 digs and six kills.
 
Defensively, Aubrie Arnold anchored the back row with a career-best 32 digs to go along with three service aces. Celimar Hoyos added six digs and three aces, while Amaris Alvarez (nine digs, one ace) and Elany Santos (two aces) chipped in at the service line.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One | With PC ahead 18-16, the Blue Hose closed the opener on an 8-2 run, highlighted by kills from Williams and Yurkovich and capped by a Hoyos ace for a 25-18 win.
 
Set Two | West Georgia built a 14-7 lead and held off a late PC rally to take the set 25-20 and even the match.
 
Set Three | The Blue Hose dominated from start to finish, hitting .436 in the frame. Miller and Yurkovich combined for 11 kills as PC rolled to a 25-12 victory.
 
Set Four | A back-and-forth battle saw eight ties, including 22-22. PC regrouped after a timeout, closing on a 3-0 run behind kills from Williams and Yurkovich to clinch the match 25-22.
