Presbyterian Drops Big South Opener to Radford

CLINTON, S.C. – In the first of eight Big South Conference clashes for the Presbyterian College women's soccer team, the Radford Highlanders dealt the Blue Hose a 3-0 loss on Saturday night at Martin Stadium.

Made to wait an extra hour thanks to a brief storm disruption, PC was blockaded by the visitors' defense and was out-shot 19-5 over the full 90-minute window.

Radford scored in the 23rd, 59th, and 64th minutes to claim the win, moving the Scotsmen to 3-5-1 overall.

Head coach Matt Smith's group will face their first challenge of a Big South road match next Wednesday, making the quick trip to Gardner-Webb for another 7:00 start.

FINAL SCORE – Radford, 3 – Presbyterian, 0
RECORDS – Radford (4-3-1) – Presbyterian (3-5-1)
LOCATION – Martin Stadium (Clinton, S.C.)

HOW IT HAPPENED

- The Highlanders spread out eight corner kick chances compared to PC's two (both in the second half), wrangling in their three goals by Ava Kertgate, Amani Green, and Paige Olson.

- Heavy fog settled in over the bulk of the second half, as Presbyterian was held without a shot-on-goal. Lyla Chadd, Cassidy Oldham, and Ella Williams all played the full 90, as did sophomore keeper Gracie Moulton.

- Lindsey Malyszek, Lina Müller, Emma Brown, Sloan Spees, and Anna Hussey were responsible for Presby's five shots, although the home side was unable to slow a Radford attack that scattered 12 second-half attempts.

UP NEXT

- It's been a struggle in 2025 for PC's next foe, with Gardner-Webb sitting at 1-7-1 this fall after taking a one-nil setback on Saturday at Longwood.

- The Runnin' Bulldogs have been outscored 11-0 in their last three appearances, their lone win to this point over South Carolina State in a 10-2 thrashing.

- ESPN+ will have live coverage of the conference conflict, as the Blue Hose have beaten G-W in their last two efforts (3-1 last year and 2-0 in 2023).
