PC Returns to Martin Stadium for Wednesday Scuffle with UNC Asheville

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team will be back in the friendly confines of Martin Stadium for their third Big South Conference clash, returning to the fray after a week off to entertain UNC Asheville.

First touch is primed for a 7:00 start, streaming live on ESPN+.

In what will be just the second league meeting for the Bulldogs and the visitors' first match in 11 days, both sides will be looking to get in the win column after unlucky starts to the conference schedule.

Neither team has beaten the other in consecutive years since 2017, with the winner of the PC/Asheville match alternating in every season for the last eight matchups.

The Blue Hose bested the Bulldogs at home last fall in a 2-0 result, capitalizing on an own-goal in the opening half before Sloan Spees slid in the dagger with just over two minutes to go.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

- Getting the sixth and final spot into the Big South Tournament last season, UNC Asheville was a one-and-done exit thanks to a 3-0 runaway by Radford in Virginia.

- The Bulldogs and fifth-year head coach Andy McNab have already duplicated their win total from all of 2024 (winning four times), with each of those victories occurring in a shutout.

- Nine out of 10 Asheville matches have resulted in one team ending with zero goals. They've been on the losing end of the past four efforts, including the Big South opener back on September 20 versus Charleston Southern.

- In that one-nil setback to the Bucs, the only score of the game was an own-goal that happened at the 69:01 mark. Since a win over South Carolina State – where Asheville hit the match's only goal in just 43 seconds – they've been unable to score at all in the last 449 minutes.

LAST TIME OUT

- Presbyterian has also endured some offensive struggles as of late, dropping a road encounter to Gardner-Webb nearly a week ago where the only goal came with 12 minutes remaining in regulation.

- Freshman keeper Febe Dombrecht re-entered the starting lineup after sitting out the last five matches, tying her personal-high with 10 saves on a rainy night in Boiling Springs.

- Head coach Matt Smith's squad had numerous close calls to either take the lead or tie things up in the final period, as seven different players recorded a shot-on-goal.

SPEES RECORD WATCH

- By hitting the game's lone goal at the 61:20 stamp of a Senior Night triumph against Alabama A&M, three-time All-Big South selection Sloan Spees needs one more strike to become PC's new Division I-era leader in goals scored.

- She has sent 16 shots to the back of the net in her career, nearly breaking the school record that was set by Sara Simpson back in 2013.
