CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Presbyterian College women's wrestling team polished off a 4-1 record at the NWCA National Duals tournament for the second consecutive year, coming in 5
th place at the 16-team double-elimination bracket on Saturday afternoon.
After a rally in the consolation round less than 24 hours earlier against Southeast Region rival King, the Blue Hose bettered two more ranked schools back-to-back by outlasting seven-seed Colorado Mesa 25-20 and picking up another W over #23 Lindenwood 27-20.
The Scotsmen – who came into the tourney as the #6 seed – have now defeated seven top-25 programs in less than a month. They've won 12 of their last 13 duals overall and managed to win three straight contests this weekend by single-digits.
PC took down three ranked wrestlers on Saturday as they are now a combined 4-0 this season versus Colorado Mesa and Lindenwood. They beat CMU in December at the Desert Duals by two points and would once again edge out the Mavericks thanks to a match-starting 15-0 sprint.
Head coach Brian Vutiainitis will take his club back to Clinton next weekend for more dual play, hosting Allen and McMurry at 2:00 on January 18. The tri-dual will be streamed on ESPN+.
