Blue Hose Begin Dual Match Season in Greenville

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team opens its 2026 dual match campaign with matches against Furman on Saturday (Jan. 17) at 3:00 p.m. and Austin Peay on Sunday (Jan. 18) at 11:00 a.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center.

 

MATCH NOTES
- Live streaming will be available for both Saturday and Sunday.
- Live scoring will only be available for Saturday's match against Furman.

 

 BLUE HOSE NOTES
- Presbyterian was picked to finish third in the Big South's annual preseason poll.
- The Blue Hose return five from last season to this year's squad. M.C Dailey, McKenzie Davis, Mary Ellen Longmire, and Sofia Rodrigo Hidalgo are all back for Presbyterian.
- Four newcomers join the Blue Hose this season. Katherine Bauer, Ladina Bruhin, and Luciana Parrilli highlight the Blue Hose freshmen class. Sophomore Roxana Valdes also joins PC. Finally, sophomore transfer Grace Katzman comes to the Blue Hose from North Greenville University.
- McKenzie Davis was named First Team All-Big South in singles last season after playing all 21 of her matches on the top court. Davis earned the Big South's Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She also was named Big South Player of the Week twice.
- Davis and Mary Ellen Longmire earned Second Team All-Conference Doubles honors in 2025. The pair had an 11-4 record last season to lead the team playing on doubles courts two and three. The duo went 7-1 on doubles court three.
- Longmire was second on the team in singles wins last year with 7.
- Last year, PC finished with a 6-17 record as a team and a 2-3 mark in Big South play.

 

FALL BIG SOUTH DOUBLES CHAMPIONS
McKenzie Davis and Ladina Bruhin won the second-ever edition of the Big South Fall Doubles Championship as the No. 3 seed in October. The pair picked up three wins in the tournament to claim the title, clinching the championship with an 8-4 win in the final over the No. 5 seed Marina Skegro and Carlota Farres of Charleston Southern. The duo earned automatic entry into the ITA Conference Masters Championships in San Diego by way of their victory, where they reached the round of 16.

 

SPRING SCHEDULE
Head coach Joel Roberts enters his seventh season at the helm of the Blue Hose women's tennis program. PC will play in 22 dual matches this spring, hosting 13 matches in Clinton at the Templeton Center Tennis Courts. In the Big South, the Blue Hose will host Longwood on March 8, Gardner-Webb on March 19, and Charleston Southern on March 25.

 

SCOUTING THE PALADINS
- Furman has won all three of the previous meetings with PC. 
- The Paladins open their spring campaign against Iowa on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. before facing PC later in the day.
- Last season, Furman went 21-4 overall and finished with a 10-1 record in the Southern Conference. The Paladins won the Southern Conference Championship for the 22nd time before falling to No. 21 UCF in the NCAA Tournament.
- Sasha Dimitrov and Lillie Murphy are ranked No. 16 in the ITA Doubles Rankings. The Paladins have another pair ranked No. 39 in doubles.

 

SCOUTING THE GOVERNORS
- This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
- Austin Peay's match against PC will be its opening match of the spring season.
- The Governors finished last season with an 8-14 record and a 4-5 mark in the ASUN.

UP NEXT
The Blue Hose will play their first home matches of the season next Saturday (Jan. 24), competing in a doubleheader against Converse (10:00 a.m.) and Lander (2:00 p.m.) at the Templeton Center Tennis Courts.
