Presbyterian Falls to Radford on the Road

RADFORD, Va. – The Presbyterian Blue Hose (8-9, Big South: 1-1) lost to the Radford Highlanders (9-8, Big South: 2-0), 80-61, on the road on Wednesday evening.

Carl Parrish paced the Blue Hose with 19 points. Jonah Pierce recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF – Parrish scored Presbyterian's first two points of the game with a jumper in the lane. After a layup from Khalon Hudson and a three from Parrish, the Blue Hose had an early 7-3 lead. Radford would tie the score at seven. The half had four lead changes and five ties. After a three from Josh Pickett with 11:43 on the clock, the score was tied at 16. Radford scored five straight points, taking a 21-16 lead. Radford pushed their lead to 34-26 with 3:33 left in the half, the Blue Hose closed the half on a 10-2 scoring run, tying the halftime score at 36 after a three from Parrish at the buzzer. Parrish scored 16 points in the half.

SECOND HALF – The two teams exchanged baskets for the first couple of minutes of the half, with Jaylen Peterson and Pierce scoring for the Blue Hose.  With the score tied at 40, Radford scored eight straight points, taking the lead for good. Radford pushed their lead into double figures. The Blue Hose were able to cut the Highlanders' lead to eight points a couple of times, but Presbyterian was not able to get any closer.

  • Parrish's 19 points marked his 12th double-figure scoring game of the season and the 28th of his career.
  • Pierce's double-double was his eighth of the season and the 11th of his career.
