CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian Blue Hose (12-14, Big South: 5-6) lost to the Charleston Southern Buccaneers (12-14, Big South: 3-8), 84-67, on the road on Thursday night.
Jonah Pierce led all scorers with 23 points.
Carl Parrish scored 14 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF – Pierce started the scoring off with a layup 41 seconds into the game. Then, Charleston Southern went on a 10-0 run before another layup from Pierce. Pierce's layup started a 6-1 run by PC, cutting CSU's lead to 11-8. Charleston Southern pushed their lead to 30-18 with 7:58 on the clock. Presbyterian's
Triston Wilson connected on four straight free throws to get the Blue Hose within 30-22. When Parrish knocked down a three from the wing, the Blue Hose were within six points, 34-28, with 4:47 on the clock. Presbyterian scored eight of the half's final 10 points, cutting CSU's halftime lead to 40-37.
SECOND HALF – Charleston Southern scored the first five points of the half. Behind a three from
Josh Pickett and a pull-up jumper from Parrish, the Blue Hose answered with a 5-0 run of their own. CSU scored, pushing their lead to 47-42. A dunk from
Jaylen Peterson and another pull-up jumper from Parrish got the Blue Hose within one point, 47-46. After a dunk by Pierce with 14:49 on the clock, Presbyterian tied the score at 49. Charleston Southern scored eight of the next 10 points, taking back control of the game, 57-51. A layup by Pickett with 11:38 on the clock, got the Blue Hose within four points, 57-53, but that would be as close as PC would get the rest of the game.
