PC Faces Queens and Western Carolina in Saturday Doubleheader

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team (2-2) is back in action this weekend at home, squaring off in a doubleheader on Saturday (Feb. 14) against Queens at 11:00 a.m. followed by a match against Western Carolina at 2:30 p.m. on the Templeton Center Tennis Courts.

 


MATCH NOTES
- The match against Queens was moved up from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 a.m.

- The match against Western Carolina was moved from Sunday to Saturday at 2:30 p.m. due to inclement weather on Sunday.

- Live scoring will be available for both matches.
- Free donuts will be available for fans for the Queens match at 11:00 a.m. Free pizza will be available for the Western Carolina match at 2:30 p.m.

 

 

BLUE HOSE NOTES
- Presbyterian returns after an 11-day hiatus. The Blue Hose defeated Lander 6-1 on Feb. 3 in the team's last outing on the Templeton Center Tennis Courts. The Blue Hose grabbed the doubles point and picked up singles wins on courts one, three, four, five, and six.

- Ladina Bruhin continued her incredible start to the season, earning her second Big South Freshman of the Week honor on Feb. 4. She is just the third player in program history to win the award multiple times. So far this year, she has an undefeated 6-0 combined singles and doubles record in dual matches. All of her wins have come on the top court in both singles and doubles.

- Grace Katzman and Mary Ellen Longmire each have two singles wins so far in 2026 for the Blue Hose. Luciana Parrilli, Sofia Rodrigo Hidalgo, and Roxy Valdes have one singles win.

- Two Blue Hose doubles teams are an undefeated 2-0 this year. Bruhin and Valdes are 2-0 as a duo playing on the top court. Katzman and Longmire are also 2-0 with both wins coming on court two. Parrilli and Rodrigo Hidalgo are 1-0 as a pair, picking up a victory on court three.

 


A CLOSER LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
The Blue Hose return four from last season to this year's squad. McKenzie Davis, Mary Ellen Longmire, Sofia Rodrigo Hidalgo, and Elle Sceney are all back for Presbyterian. Five newcomers join PC this season as well. Katherine Bauer, Ladina Bruhin, Luciana Parrilli, and Roxy Valdes highlight the Blue Hose freshmen class. Finally, sophomore transfer Grace Katzman comes to the Blue Hose from North Greenville University.

 


FALL BIG SOUTH DOUBLES CHAMPIONS
McKenzie Davis and Ladina Bruhin won the second-ever edition of the Big South Fall Doubles Championship as the No. 3 seed in October. The pair picked up three wins in the tournament to claim the title, clinching the championship with an 8-4 win in the final over the No. 5 seed Marina Skegro and Carlota Farres of Charleston Southern. The duo earned automatic entry into the ITA Conference Masters Championships in San Diego by way of their victory, where they reached the round of 16.

 


SPRING SCHEDULE
Head coach Joel Roberts enters his seventh season at the helm of the Blue Hose women's tennis program. PC will play in 22 dual matches this spring, hosting 13 matches in Clinton at the Templeton Center Tennis Courts. In the Big South, the Blue Hose will host Longwood on March 8, Gardner-Webb on March 19, and Charleston Southern on March 25.

 


SCOUTING THE ROYALS
- Presbyterian has won both of the previous meetings in the all-time series against Queens. The Blue Hose won both matches on the road in the last two years, winning 6-1 in 2024 before dominating to a 4-0 victory last season.

- Queens is 0-4 so far in 2026 as a team. 

- Last season, the Royals finished the year with a 1-18 record.

 


SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
- The series is knotted up at 5-5-1 in the 11 all-time meetings going into Saturday. Western Carolina has won three straight against the Blue Hose, including a 6-1 win last year in Cullowhee.

- The Catamounts are 1-5 to begin the spring season. They picked up a 5-2 win over Young Harris on Feb. 10 before falling to Gardner-Webb on the road 4-2.

- Western Carolina had a strong 2025 campaign, going 15-10 overall and finishing 4-3 in the Southern Conference.

 


UP NEXT
The Blue Hose will play their fifth straight match at home on Wednesday (Feb. 18) against College of Charleston at 2:00 p.m.
