Presbyterian Suffers Tuesday Home Defeat to Wofford

CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (4-18) dropped its first of two midweek clashes with Wofford this season, falling 9-2 on Tuesday afternoon (March 17) at the PC Baseball Complex.

 

Wofford plated three runs in the first to establish control early. The Terriers added to their lead in the middle innings, finishing the contest with eight hits to come away with a victory in Clinton. Emory Guilford led PC with a two-run home run in the eighth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers had their way with the Blue Hose to start the game, scoring three runs in the top of the first off of starting pitcher Bauer Burkart.

- Wofford added an insurance run in the fourth inning, plating a run on a wild pitch.

- The Terriers extended the lead in the fifth inning, scoring on a balk. Wofford brought in another run later in the frame on a sacrifice bunt to grab a 6-0 advantage.

- After Wofford tacked on another run in the seventh, Presbyterian got on the board for the first time in the eighth inning. Emory Guilford crushed a two-run home run to right field, scoring Caden Mason.

- Wofford closed out proceedings in the ninth inning, finishing the afternoon with a 9-2 win.

 

 

NOTABLES 
- Emory Guilford hit his fourth home run of the season in the eighth inning. He now leads the team for the year.

- Caden Mason stayed hot for the Blue Hose offensively, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. He now has seven multi-hit games this year and two in his past three games.

- Andrew Albertus and Nick Smith both logged a hit for the third straight game.

- Ian Lindsy made his second start of the year for PC. Aidan Taylor made his third career start.

- Nine Blue Hose players made pitching appearances against the Terriers. Mikey Marroquin Jr. and Mason McDaniel recorded scoreless innings in relief.

 

 

UP NEXT
The Blue Hose hit the road in Big South action this weekend, facing High Point in a three-game series beginning Friday at 6:00 p.m. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
