SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Another chapter in a fierce rivalry between the Presbyterian College softball team and Wofford will be written tomorrow evening, as the Blue Hose venture to Spartanburg for a 6:00 first pitch on ESPN+.
Fresh off a huge series victory over Winthrop to begin the Big South schedule (obtaining a 5-3 result in the finale), PC looks for a dose of revenge after the Terriers stole a 5-1 win in Clinton last month.
The non-conference schedule for head coach
David Williams' roster has been a force this spring, as the Scotsmen hope to slow down an opponent who is 19-4 overall and just swept Longwood over the weekend.
These two schools split their games against each other last year, with PC walking off Wofford in the initial meeting before dropping the second contest 4-0.

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
- Wofford already had an impressive resume before they came to Clinton in February, and it seems that head coach Chelsea Butler's crew has even improved since then. They have won 10 of their last 13 games since the first matchup against PC.
- After run-ruling College of Charleston, the Terriers defeated Longwood three times by a collective margin of 22-8 at home. They scattered seven doubles over that series and won the last two games by three runs each.
- Two of Wofford's four losses on the year came against Clemson and Mississippi State (schools that have hovered around the national top-25), while they are a very impressive 17-1 on their home turf.
- The Terriers have three batters above .400 in their lineup, led by sophomore Brianna Stanley's six home runs and 30 RBI.
LAST TIME OUT
- It was a tumultuous three-game set for the Blue Hose against Winthrop, with Friday's doubleheader being a couple of blowouts from either side. PC won the rubber match thanks to a two-run blast by catcher
Molly Mattas in the 3
rd inning.
- Senior
Peyton Duncan picked up her 28
th career victory after throwing the first five innings, leaving
Avery Robinson (the only pitcher in the Big South with an ERA below 3.00) to get a six-out save.
- Robinson was the starter when PC last met Wofford exactly one month ago, turning in five frames with just one hit allowed and striking out five. The Terriers resurrected in the 6
th, though, turning a one-score deficit into a four-run win.
- Primarily the top two batters in Presbyterian's lineup,
Cierra Grice and
Hali Duke have registered at least one hit between them in 20 consecutive games. That streak goes back over three weeks, as they combined for eight knocks in the Winthrop series.
- The Blue Hose have accumulated a 4.21 staff ERA, better than any of the other six institutions in the Big South. They hold a 24-of-28 stolen-base ratio and have laid down 41 doubles.
