CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team (6-11, 1-1 Big South) returned home on Wednesday afternoon (March 25), suffering a 6-1 defeat to Charleston Southern in Big South play on the Templeton Center Tennis Courts.
The Blue Hose took the doubles point to open the match, but the Buccaneers won all six singles matches to claim the victory.
Charleston Southern picked up a win on the top doubles court to start the afternoon before the Blue Hose settled in. Grace Katzman and Mary Ellen Longmire cruised to a 6-2 win on doubles court two. Ladina Bruhin and Roxy Valdes were in a nailbiter on doubles court three, but they came through in the end, defeating Amike Botha and Carle Botha 7-5 to give PC an early 1-0 lead.
The Buccaneers established control of the match in singles, taking the first set on all six courts.
Presbyterian battled in the second set on several courts, but Charleston Southern picked up victories on all six courts to close out the match with a 6-1 conference victory.
Katzman and Longmire improve to 8-2 on the season as a doubles team.
