BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (5-23, 2-4 Big South) suffered a 7-4 defeat at Samford in game two of a non-conference three-game series on Saturday afternoon (March 28) at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

The Blue Hose struck first to start the game, but Samford poured in six unanswered runs to separate early. PC tallied three runs in the final two innings to fight back before the Bulldogs closed things out in the ninth to secure a 7-4 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first two batters of the afternoon reached base to set Presbyterian up in scoring position. PC grounded into a double play, but James Green scored from third to begin the game with a run.
- The Samford bats got going in the bottom half of the inning, exploding for three runs on three hits to grab a 3-1 advantage.
- The Bulldogs maintained a two-run lead over Presbyterian until the fifth. The Samford offense emerged again, scoring three more runs on four hits to open up the game.Â
- Presbyterian got a run back in the top of the seventh on a Nick Smith sacrifice fly RBI. Emory Guilford came around to score.
- Guilford logged his third hit of the day in the ninth, tripling to right center to bring around Bo Moody. Caden Mason plated Guilford in the next at-bat to help PC inch closer, but the effort was not enough. Samford added an insurance run in the eighth and picked up a 7-4 victory.

NOTABLESÂ
- Emory Guilford powered the PC offense, going 3-for-4 with an RBI triple and two runs scored. He extended his hit streak to nine games.
- Bo Moody continued his excellent stretch of play, finishing the day with two hits. He has 11 multi-hit games this season while also extending his on-base streak to 13 games.
- Aidan Taylor logged the other hit for Presbyterian, his third of the year.
- Christian Charalmabous started for PC, throwing 4.1 innings and punching out three. Mikey Marroquin Jr. pitched 3.1 innings in relief, allowing just one hit. His 3.1 innings pitched are a season-high.Â
- Mason McDaniel recorded the final out for PC in the eighth.
