CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (6-24, 2-4 Big South) picked up a midweek road victory on Tuesday evening (March 31), defeating Western Carolina 6-5 at Childress Field/Hennon Stadium.

Matthew Rollison led the way for the Blue Hose, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two doubles. Western Carolina scored three in the ninth to close the gap to one, but Jeremiah Hampton got the save to secure the win.

The Blue Hose ended a five-game losing streak to Western Carolina with the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team scored in the first two innings of the ball game, but that changed in the third. Bo Moody singled home Layton Hyneman to get PC's first run of the day on the scoreboard. Matthew Rollison singled through the left side in the next at-bat, scoring James Green and Moody to put the Blue Hose up 3-0.
-Â Hyneman extended the PC lead in the fourth, reaching on an error to bring around Emory Guilford.
- Western Carolina got on the board in the fifth, plating its first runs of the day on a two-run homer to right center.
- Presbyterian maintained a two-run lead until the seventh inning, adding two timely insurance runs. Green singled and stole second base to get into scoring position with two outs. Following a Moody walk, Rollison crushed a double to left center, bringing around Green and Moody to help PC go ahead 6-2.
- Down to its last chance, Western Carolina rallied in the ninth. The Catamounts scored a run on a throwing error before cutting the deficit to one on a two-run homer to right field.
- Jeremiah Hampton retired the final two batters of the evening in order to record a save and help PC escape with a 6-5 road win.

NOTABLESÂ
- Matthew Rollison posted three hits and a season-high four RBIs against the Catamounts. This is his third time recording at least three hits in a game this season. His four RBIs are his second most in a game in his career.
- Rollison also tallied a season-high two doubles.
- Bo Moody stayed sharp at the plate, going 1-for-3 with an RBI single. He walked and scored two runs.
- James Green also scored two runs for Presbyterian. He finished the day 1-for-3. He logged his 10th stolen base of the year as well.
- Emory Guilford singled in the fourth inning to extend his hit streak to 11 games.
- Layton Hyneman logged the first stolen base of his career.
- Eli Bowery made his first career collegiate start, pitching two scoreless innings.Â
- Tucker Meredith recorded his first collegiate victory on the mound, throwing two scoreless innings to follow Bowery. He struck out two.
- Jeremiah Hampton got the save in the ninth, the first of his career.
