Blue Hose Fall to Buccaneers on Thursday Night

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (6-25, 2-5 Big South) dropped game one of a three-game road Big South series on Thursday night (April 2), suffering a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Charleston Southern at Nielsen Field.


The Blue Hose were held scoreless for the second time this season, as the Buccaneers led from start to finish. Bo Moody and Andrew Albertus led PC offensively with two hits apiece. Mason McDaniel delivered three scoreless innings out of the bullpen as well.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charleston Southern singled to start the game and later brought in the leadoff hitter with an RBI base knock to plate the game's first run.
- The score would stay 1-0 until the fourth, where the Buccaneers scored four runs on three hits to open the game up and take a 5-0 lead over the Blue Hose.
- Charleston Southern kept the momentum going in the seventh, scoring its final two runs of the night.
- The Blue Hose bullpen held the Buccaneers scoreless the rest of the game, as Robbie Boykin and Mason McDaniel combined to pitch 3.1 innings. They allowed just two hits.
- However, Titus Vonkapff pitched a complete game shutout for the Buccaneers, helping Charleston Southern claim game one by a 7-0 score.

 

 

NOTABLES 
- Bo Moody continued his hot stretch, going 2-for-3 at the plate. He extended his on-base streak to 16 games. He also recorded his team-leading 12th multi-hit game of the season.
- Emory Guilford singled through the right side in the top of the first to extend his hit streak to 12 games.
- Mason McDaniel made his longest pitching appearance of the season on Thursday night, throwing three scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. 
- Andrew Albertus also logged two hits for PC, going 2-for-3. He recorded his fifth multi-hit game of the year.
- Tristan McGregor made his seventh start of the season on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings.
- James Green reached base twice for the Blue Hose, posting a hit and a walk.
