Slow Start Dooms PC in Road Loss to Owls

KENNESAW, Ga. – In their first appearance outside of Bailey Memorial Stadium since the season-opener 24 days ago, the Presbyterian College lacrosse team was felled by Kennesaw State in a 13-6 final tally on Wednesday night.

The Blue Hose played from behind for the bulk of the evening, held scoreless until the 24th minute and managing just two first-half goals.

Kennesaw State was able to double-up PC in total shots (30-15) in what was their fifth consecutive contest against a Big South member, with Presby getting six scores from five different players.

This was the first of a three-game road swing for the Scotsmen, who will now set their sights on Delaware State this weekend. Opening draw against the Hornets is scheduled for 6:00 on Saturday as PC aims to win their ninth straight in that non-conference series.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Senior Alyssa Perez was able to give Presbyterian their first point of the day midway through the 2nd quarter, and she connected again after halftime for her team-leading 12th goal.

- Defense dominated the opening chapter, as the score displayed only 1-0 KSU with a full period in the books. That lead grew to 6-2 for the Owls after 30 minutes, with junior Emma Claire Mills offering up her first goal of the year before the break.

- Kennesaw was marginally better than the Blue Hose in the next two quarters (7-4), as PC obtained one score apiece from Emily Currie, Kaylie Rittmueller, and freshman Perri Mixon.

- The home side was able to reach the victory after winning 18 of 21 draw controls and forcing Presbyterian into 23 turnovers.

- Entering the game as the Big South leader in total points, Wednesday was the first time in 2026 that sophomore attacker Kate Dominick was held without a goal. She did, however, reach an assist in the 2nd stanza.

- Kayleigh Aitken played the first 35 minutes at the keeper's spot before Morgan Thompson finished out the game, collecting 11 saves and six ground balls between them.

- Sydney Howard has now seen three assists in the span of four days, dishing out two helpers against KSU next to a pair of ground balls.
