CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team (6-11, 1-1 Big South) will play its final home matches of 2026 this weekend. First, the Blue Hose will square off against Longwood in Big South action on Thursday afternoon (April 2) at 2:00 p.m. On Friday afternoon, PC will take on Norfolk State at 2:00 p.m. Both matches will take place on the Templeton Center Tennis Courts.
MATCH NOTES
- Live scoring will be available for both matches.
- The first 30 fans at Thursday's match will receive free t-shirts.
BLUE HOSE NOTES
- Presbyterian returns after a week off. The Blue Hose faced Charleston Southern last Wednesday at home, falling 6-1.
- Roxy Valdes was named Big South Freshman of the Week on March 25. She won all three of her singles matches the previous week. She made her debut on the top singles court, cruising to back-to-back straight-set victories against opponents from NC Central and UNCG. She was also named PC Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance.
- Ladina Bruhin powers Presbyterian in singles this season. She leads the team in wins with seven with five of them coming on the top court. Grace Katzman is second on the team with six singles victories.
- Katzman and Mary Ellen Longmire pace the Blue Hose in doubles in 2026. They boast an 8-2 record as one of the best doubles teams in the Big South. They have won eight of their nine matches on court two.
- Bruhin and Valdes are second on the team, holding a 6-5 record (4-1 on court three).
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
The Blue Hose return four from last season to this year's squad. McKenzie Davis, Mary Ellen Longmire, Sofia Rodrigo Hidalgo, and Elle Sceney are all back for Presbyterian. Five newcomers join PC this season as well. Katherine Bauer, Ladina Bruhin, Luciana Parrilli, and Roxy Valdes highlight the Blue Hose freshmen class. Finally, sophomore transfer Grace Katzman comes to the Blue Hose from North Greenville University.
FALL BIG SOUTH DOUBLES CHAMPIONS
McKenzie Davis and Ladina Bruhin won the second-ever edition of the Big South Fall Doubles Championship as the No. 3 seed in October. The pair picked up three wins in the tournament to claim the title, clinching the championship with an 8-4 win in the final over the No. 5 seed Marina Skegro and Carlota Farres of Charleston Southern. The duo earned automatic entry into the ITA Conference Masters Championships in San Diego by way of their victory, where they reached the round of 16.
SCOUTING THE LANCERS
- Presbyterian holds a commanding 10-3 all-time record against Longwood. The Blue Hose have taken eight straight meetings against the Lancers.
- The Lancers are 8-7 and 2-1 in the Big South going into Thursday's matchup. Longwood has won two of its last three, including a 4-2 win at Howard. The Lancers suffered a home defeat to George Washington in the team's last outing on Sunday.
- Head coach Charlotte Clarke is in her second season as the leader of the Longwood women's tennis program.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- This will be the first ever meeting between the two programs
- Norfolk State has won three straight coming into the weekend. The Spartans have an 11-8 overall record and are 3-1 in the MEAC. Most recently, Norfolk State picked up a 4-2 home victory over Hampton on Wednesday.
- Head coach Peter Banas is in his fourth season at the helm for the Spartans.
