CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (6-29, 2-8 Big South) returned home for the first time since March 17 on Friday night (April 10), falling in a tight 4-2 ballgame at the PC Baseball Complex.

Winthrop won a low-scoring affair to open the series, scoring two big insurance runs in the seventh inning to hang on for the Big South victory. Tyrell Williams delivered a quality start on the mound for the Blue Hose, pitching 6.2 innings while allowing just two runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Winthrop struck first in the top of the first inning, plating the game's opening run on a throwing error.
- PC immediately got the run back in the bottom of the second. Nick Smith launched a home run to left field to tie the game.
- Winthrop responded in its next chance to bat in the third, taking the lead on an RBI single through the right side.
- Both starting pitchers dominated in the middle innings, allowing no runs starting in the bottom of the third all the way until the seventh.
- Both teams threatened in the sixth with two runners on base, but Brayden Gilley and Tyrell Williams escaped the jam.
- The Eagles added two huge insurance runs in the seventh, plating the first run of the inning on an RBI single. Later in the inning, Winthrop homered to go up 4-1.
- Presbyterian stayed in the fight in the bottom half of the inning, scoring on a wild pitch to inch closer. However, no runs would come across the board the rest of the evening, and the Eagles picked up a 4-2 win.

NOTABLESÂ
- Tyrell Williams turned in his longest outing of the season and the second longest of his career on the mound, throwing 6.2 innings against the Eagles. He allowed six hits and two earned runs while striking out five. His five punchouts are his second most this year.
- Emory Guilford led PC at the plate, going 2-for-4. He recorded his sixth multi-hit game of the year.
- Bo Moody singled in the sixth inning to extend his on-base streak to 20 games.
- James Green posted a hit and a stolen base. He is now tied with Moody for the most stolen bases on the team this season with 11.
- Nick Smith hit his fifth home run of the year in the second inning.
- Robbie Boykin and Jeremiah Hampton pitched in relief on Friday night for Presbyterian. Hampton threw a scoreless ninth inning, striking out two.
