CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (7-29, 3-8 Big South) handed Winthrop (23-12, 7-1) its first conference loss on Saturday afternoon (April 11), evening the series with a 5-2 victory at the PC Baseball Complex.

Christian Charalambous turned in a great start on the mound for the Blue Hose, pitching 6.2 innings while allowing just two runs. Emory Guilford powered Presbyterian offensively, going a perfect 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs to help the Blue Hose take game two of the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- James Green doubled to right center to lead off the Presbyterian offense in the bottom of the first. Bo Moody followed with a single to move Green to third. Two batters later, Emory Guilford scored Green on a sacrifice fly RBI, helping PC strike first and take a 1-0 lead.
- Christian Charalambous opened the game with three scoreless innings on the mound, but Winthrop got to him in the fourth, hitting a two-run homer to go up 2-1.
- The Blue Hose responded right back in the bottom half of the inning, retaking the lead. Matthew Rollison tripled down the right field line to lead off the inning. Guilford followed with an RBI double to score Rollison and tie the game.Â
- Later in the inning, Amman Dewberry singled to right center, bringing around Guilford to give PC a 3-2 advantage.
- Presbyterian added to its lead in the fifth, plating two runs on three hits to keep the momentum going. With two runners on base, Rollison delivered again with an RBI single to left center, scoring Green. After a pitching change, Guilford provided his second sacrifice fly of the afternoon, bringing home Moody.
- Charalambous continued to cruise through the Winthrop order in the fifth and sixth innings, maintaining a three-run PC lead.
- Mikey Marroquin Jr. entered the game in the top of the seventh in relief of Charalambous and shut down the Eagle offense the rest of the way. He did not allow a hit in 2.1 innings of work, helping the Blue Hose secure a 5-2 win in Clinton.

NOTABLESÂ
- Christian Charalambous delivered the second-longest start of his career on Saturday, throwing 6.2 innings. He allowed just five hits and two earned runs while striking out five.
- Mikey Marroquin Jr. was dominant out of the bullpen, not allowing a hit in 2.1 innings of work. He recorded the save against the Eagles, the first of his collegiate career.
- For the second straight day, Emory Guilford posted two hits. He went a perfect 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. This is his fourth game this season with at least three RBIs. He logged his seventh multi-hit game of the year.Â
- Bo Moody extended his on-base streak to 21 games against Winthrop. He finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored. This is his 15th multi-hit game of the season.
- Matthew Rollison also had a two-hit afternoon, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. He posted his second triple of the season in the fourth inning.
- James Green had a productive afternoon as well at the plate, finishing 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored.
- Amman Dewberry and Cam Mallo also recorded hits for Presbyterian.
