CLINTON, S.C. – The next 48 hours will denote the last home series for six Presbyterian College softball seniors, as the Blue Hose prepare for their first action in a week against the Buccaneers of Charleston Southern.
Game One of this Big South Conference set is planned for 5:00 tomorrow, with Senior Day festivities taking place before Saturday's doubleheader which starts at 1:00. ESPN+ will be streaming the entire series.
Morgan Farthing,
Maddi Wood,
Peyton Duncan,
Gracie DeCuir,
Blair Darby, and
Molly Mattas will each be recognized in their final home appearance, a group that has amassed 78 total wins together and hopes to clinch a spot in the league tournament with two-plus more.
PC is riding high after a two-games-to-one triumph at Gardner-Webb last weekend, a series that climaxed with a nine-inning thriller and an 11-10 victory. Presbyterian picked up 19 hits in the finale, their second-most in a single outing all-time.
Head coach
David Williams' group is tied for fifth-place in the latest league standings, meaning that a series win over CSU would go a long way towards their first postseason ticket in four years (the Big South qualifies five of the seven institutions to the bracket).

SCOUTING THE BUCS
- It's been a very up-and-down season for PC's Palmetto rival, with Charleston Southern realizing a one-run victory over Notre Dame back in February although they've been on the wrong side of all but one of their last 11 attempts.
- The Buccaneers were broomed by both Winthrop and Gardner-Webb (two schools that the Scotsmen won four out of six against). CSU was last seen in a Tuesday twinbill at Furman, losing both by respective scores of 5-4 and 8-5.
- Although Charleston Southern could not win their last conference series against Radford, they were still able to salvage Game Three by a 1-0 count after a sixth-inning triple from Maddie Lee. It was the second shutout of the spring by senior pitcher Riley Lauffer.
- CSU has hit just six home runs in 43 contests, holding a 3-15 mark when playing away from their home site. This is the sixth season for head coach Christi Musser.
LAST TIME OUT
- After dropping the first bout 2-0 and seeing their Big South Tournament hopes beginning to dwindle, Presbyterian flipped the script with two straight W's at Gardner-Webb.
- Starting with a solo home run from Mattas and ending with a fielder's choice by
Hali Duke that scored
Avery Fielden, PC successfully came back from a 7-2 deficit to win the series in Boiling Springs.
- Duke and rightfielder
Ava Coggins were voted as the Big South Player and Freshman of the Week respectively, the third weekly award from the league that Duke has acquired.
- Coggins extended Game Three when PC was down to their last out in the 7
th, rifling a two-run single to solidify her first three-hit effort. Sophomore
Kylie Rast then sat down her last six batters in extra innings to finish the job.
- The Blue Hose are in possession of the second-lowest ERA among all Big South squads (4.39). Duke's 12 doubles and .475 on-base percentage each rank second in the division.
SENIOR DAY '26
- Below is a comprehensive list of each senior that will be recognized on Saturday and their Blue Hose accomplishments:
- Farthing has missed just two games in her final campaign, a career .244 hitter who has started 110 times. A native of Pennsylvania, Morgan is one of nine Presbyterian players to have hit at least three triples. She has scattered 12 extra-base hits in her four years at PC, stealing 16 bases and batting in 40 runs. Farthing has also drawn 23 total walks, contributing to an OBP of .302.
- Wood came to the Blue Hose from nearby Clinton High and has appeared in 76 games with 55 starting nods. She had her most productive season as a junior, hitting three of her five career homers and manufacturing 12 of her 22 career RBI. Overall, Maddi has reached base 43 times and holds a .342 slugging rate.
- Duncan was selected as the Big South Pitcher of the Week for the first time in her career back in February, currently ranking 4th in Presbyterian history for both strikeouts (302) and wins (30). Her 66 starts and 28 complete games are the 5th and 6th most of any PC pitcher respectively, while she has thrown a grand total of 414.2 innings. Peyton was a member of the 2025 Big South All-Academic team and has garnered 10 K's on three separate dates.
- None of PC's five senior position players have suited up in more games than DeCuir, a native of Moncks Corner who has been penciled in to the starting lineup 154 times. Gracie has registered 83 hits and 11 doubles as a collegian, batting in 28 runs and scoring 49 herself. She has earned 26 free passes and has successfully stolen 12 bases.
- Darby hails from Spartanburg and graduated from Dorman High, bouncing back from a 2024 preseason injury that sidelined her for that entire year to make 85 starts since. Blair holds a solid slugging percentage of .406 during her time in Clinton, responsible for 14 doubles and six homers. She has knocked in 42 runs on 72 hits, resulting in a .345 on-base ratio.
- Transferring to PC after a sole season at Newberry, Mattas has seen the field in 75 games over the past three years. A potent extra-base threat, Molly has combined for six doubles and five home runs while batting in 27 scores altogether. She is slugging .396 as a Blue Hose and has also drawn 10 walks.
