CLINTON, S.C. – It will be a very important two-day sequence for the Presbyterian College softball team over the next 48 hours, welcoming Longwood for an important Big South Conference series. The action starts at 1:00 on both Friday and Saturday.
ESPN+ will be streaming tomorrow's doubleheader as well as the finale. The Lancers are barely ahead of PC in the current league standings, setting up a pivotal three-game arrangement in Clinton.
Both clubs will be looking to bounce back from their most recent Big South endeavors, as Presby was swept by Radford last weekend while Longwood lost two of three to last year's tournament champion USC Upstate.
This will be the first time that Longwood has visited Presbyterian since 2023 (what ended up being just a two-game set due to inclement weather).

SCOUTING THE LANCERS
- Under the direction of sixth-year head coach Dr. Megan Brown, Longwood took two games off of Charleston Southern (including a 12-6 result in the rubber match) before dropping the series to Upstate.
- The Lancers were able to salvage Game 3 of that series by a lopsided 10-1 margin, putting up a five-spot in the first inning while all-conference pitcher Maggie Chapin threw a run-rule no-hitter.
- Second-baseman Lauren Faulkner was selected as the Big South Freshman of the Week on Monday after batting 7-of-15 with three home runs, a double, and nine RBI over a period of five games (also included a split with NC Central).
- Longwood has been locked in 15 games that were decided by three runs or less. Sophomore Brooke Bennett is tied for the most homers in the conference (nine), currently leading the division with an OPS of 1.263.
LAST TIME OUT
- Presbyterian was bested by College of Charleston on Wednesday, dropping an 8-1 contest as the Cougars submitted six RBI singles and a late longball.
- Freshman
Kaylee Huckaby tossed 3.2 innings in her first career start, succeeded by
Avery Robinson and
Peyton Duncan who now needs just 13 more strikeouts to reach 300 for her career.
- Typically the first two batters in PC's lineup, the freshman combo of
Cierra Grice and
Hali Duke have logged at least one hit between them in 25 consecutive games.
- Senior first-baseman
Blair Darby returned to the batting order in the Charleston game after sitting out the last four contests due to a broken finger. She has reached base safely in nine straight meetings.
