Blue Hose Drop Series Finale to Radford on Sunday

CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (10-35, 6-12 Big South) suffered a 10-6 defeat to Radford in the rubber match of its weekend series on Sunday afternoon (April 26) at the PC Baseball Complex.


The Blue Hose took the lead in the fourth inning after trailing early, but Radford poured in six runs in the final three innings to claim the series in Big South action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Radford jumped on PC to start the game, scoring the first two runs of the afternoon on three hits in the top of the first.
- The Highlanders tallied another run in the second inning on a home run to right field to take a 3-0 lead.
- The Blue Hose answered right back in the third inning, responding with three runs to tie the game. Cam Mallo plated the first run of the inning on an RBI single to center field, bringing around Aidan Taylor.
- After a walk with the bases loaded brought in another run, James Green tied the game with a sacrifice fly RBI to right field, scoring Mallo.
- The two teams continued to go back and forth in the fourth inning. Radford tied the game on an RBI double before PC got the lead right back on a Matthew Rollison RBI single through the right side.
- The Blue Hose maintained a one-run lead until the seventh, where Radford drew a bases-loaded walk to knot the game up at five.
- The Highlanders took the lead from Presbyterian in the eighth inning on an RBI single before separating from PC in the ninth. Radford scored four runs in the ninth inning to pull away, finishing the series with a 10-6 win.


 

NOTABLES 
- Bo Moody hit his first career home run in the ninth inning. He reached base in all four of his plate appearances, going 2-for-2 with a home run, a triple, and two walks. He scored two runs and posted two RBIs on Sunday.
- Fellow freshman Aidan Taylor stayed hot at the plate, recording two hits for the second straight day. He went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Emory Guilford reached base three times, going 2-for-3 with a walk.
- James Green's 18-game on-base streak came to an end.
- Tristan McGregor made his 11th start of the year on the mound, pitching 6.0 innings.
- JJ Harrell, Jeremiah Hampton, Robbie Boykin, and Domaine Vann made appearances out of the bullpen for the Blue Hose.

 

 

UP NEXT
Presbyterian is off next week until the weekend, facing The Citadel in a three-game series. Next Friday and Sunday's games will be played in Clinton, while Saturday's contest will be in Charleston.
