BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Another crucial Big South Conference series awaits the Presbyterian College softball team this weekend, visiting Gardner-Webb for a single game tomorrow and a Saturday doubleheader.
First pitch in the opener is scheduled for 5:00, with a one o'clock start in the DH after that. ESPN+ will be streaming both days of action, as PC looks to make a jolt up the league standings away from home.
Presbyterian has never won two-out-of-three versus the Runnin' Bulldogs on the road, as G-W currently owns an eight-game winning streak in this series. PC is 2-3 in their last five appearances, with each of those losses coming by a single run.
This weekend's sequence is highly important in terms of the postseason picture, with Gardner-Webb sitting one spot above the Blue Hose in the conference standings. The league takes the top five clubs out of seven to the tournament in May.

SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
- It's been a topsy turvy season so far for the Runnin' Bulldogs and fifth-year head coach Bailey Wigness, going 13-1 from February 27 to March 14 but losing eight of their last nine.
- After pulling a sweep over Charleston Southern and scoring 28 total runs over that series, Gardner-Webb was broomed themselves by Winthrop in their next conference matchup.
- G-W was able to salvage a Game Three win at USC Upstate last weekend (4-1), but were hammered by Appalachian State in their last showing on Tuesday (20-3).
- Maggie Knight, Annicka McLaughlin, and Reese Collier comprise three of the five best batting averages in the Big South, as the Runnin' Bulldogs hit a very strong .351 overall.
- Collier in particular has been a brutally tough out for opposing pitchers, ranking 16
th in America with 59 hits and leading the league with 11 home runs.
- Alli Stidham represents Gardner-Webb's best ERA (4.27), while true freshman Glenna McLamb ranks seventh nationally with four saves.
LAST TIME OUT
- After coming up just short against Longwood over Easter weekend, the Blue Hose took a quick trip to Furman on Tuesday and ended with a non-conference split.
- It was a balanced effort in the first bout, with PC earning a comfortable 5-1 decision behind
Avery Robinson's six strikeouts and no walks. The Scotsmen were then walked off in the rematch by a 7-6 count.
- Following a .600 average in the series with Longwood, infielder
Hali Duke became the third player under the
David Williams administration to win Big South Freshman of the Week at least twice in one year.
- She has now reached base safely in 20 consecutive games, drawing four walks in the Furman DH and getting a couple of singles as well.
- Presbyterian's 4.46 staff ERA is the second-best in the division, trailing only the defending champion Upstate. Senior
Peyton Duncan will go into the G-W series needing just three more K's to become the third player in school history with 300 plus.
- Duke has struck out only eight times in 134 plate appearances, leading the roster with 25 RBI and 12 extra-base hits. Her .402 average is the sixth-best of any Big South player.
