CLINTON, S.C. – Dr. Christina Gutta and Rick Partsch earned a terrific opportunity to share their expertise at the College Athletic Trainers Society Spring Symposium for Athletic Trainers and Team Physicians on May 14-16 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dr. Gutta works in orthopedic sports medicine at Prisma Health, also serving as a team physician for the Blue Hose. Partsch is the head athletic trainer at PC, working primarily with the Presbyterian College football and women's lacrosse programs.
The event was held by the College Athletic Trainers' Society, a society founded for college and university athletic trainers and healthcare professionals who provide and manage healthcare for the intercollegiate student-athlete.
On the first day of the symposium, Dr. Gutta presented "Using Point of Care Ultrasound for Immediate Return to Play Decisions." Her presentation provided both college athletic trainers and team physicians cases where Presbyterian utilized point of care ultrasound to determine the severity of injury and help make return to play decisions for student-athletes.
The next day, Dr. Gutta and Partsch took center stage, displaying their research on "Mental Health Crisis in a Collegiate Baseball Player." During their presentation, they discussed mental health crisis management in college athletics and the necessity for a plan when these situations arise.
