CLINTON, S.C. – Nine Presbyterian College Blue Hose student-athletes were recognized for their performances on the field and in the classroom by being named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large team.
The student-athletes to earn CSC Academic All-District At-Large team accolades are: Men's golf junior Spence Hagood, women's golf junior Maddie Peake and senior Taylor Reaves, women's lacrosse seniors Olivia Ballard and Avery West, men's wrestling senior Fernando Dominguez and junior Joshua Roe, and women's wrestling junior Maddie Kubicki and sophomore May Cuyler.
To be considered for the CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District At-Large squad, one must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, be of sophomore standing or older, and have competed in at least 90 percent of their team's games throughout the season.
OLIVIA BALLARD, WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Ballard was chosen as a starter in each of her final 41 matches on the defensive end, a streak that dates all the way back to 2024. As a senior, she registered 12 ground balls to go with eight caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls.
Olivia was a member of the Big South All-Academic Team thanks to a 3.89 cumulative GPA in Political Science. She was included on the PC Dean's List in four different semesters.
MAY CUYLER, WOMEN'S WRESTLING
Cuyler won over 82 percent of her matches for a team that broke numerous records and placed 5th at the inaugural NCAA Championships, becoming a two-time All-American who is now 49-10 after two seasons.
Finishing 6th nationally in class 160 as a freshman, she one-upped that performance to come in 5th this time around. Across her sophomore campaign, she achieved 20 combined wins by either pin or technical fall.
Two months ago, Cuyler nabbed a silver medal in her weight class at the U20 World Team Trials on the west coast. She will represent the United States later this summer at the Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro.
May is studying Psychology at PC and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.73. She was one of 20 Presbyterian wrestlers to be named Scholar All-America, more than any other university.
FERNANDO DOMINGUEZ, MEN'S WRESTLING
Dominguez appeared in 13 out of 18 events for Presbyterian and represented the Blue Hose in the Southern Conference Championships, bouncing back from a season-ending injury that clouded his junior year.
He was victorious at a neutral tournament against an opponent from Ohio and also grabbed a dual win over Brown via 10-3 decision. He acquired a 3.58 cumulative grade-point average in Political Science.
SPENCE HAGOOD, MEN'S GOLF
Hagood played a major role in helping the Blue Hose win the Big South Championship and advance to the NCAA Regionals for the first time in Presbyterian's DI era. Hagood recorded the match-clinching victories in Presbyterian's Big South Championship semifinals win over High Point and the finals win over USC Upstate. This season, he competed in all 11 tournaments, while averaging 73.9 strokes per round. He finished in tenth place at the Big South Championship stroke play and tied for 13th place at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate.
Hagood, who has a 3.52 cumulative GPA majoring in Business, was named to the Big South All-Academic team this year.
MADDIE KUBICKI, WOMEN'S WRESTLING
The first-ever three-time All-American for a program that has amassed four straight national top-10 standings, Kubicki holds a career ledger of 78-22 and captured the Southeast Region title for the first time back in March.
She placed 4th at Nationals (a number that she also hit as a freshman), winning 79 percent of her matches with one year of eligibility still left in the tank.
Maddie is well-versed in international competition, taking the gold prize at the Grand Prix de France for the 65 KG class.
Another NCAA Scholar All-American, Kubicki possesses a 3.50 cumulative GPA in the field of Biology.
MADDIE PEAKE, WOMEN'S GOLF
Peake played her best golf to date in her junior campaign with Presbyterian. Competing in all 10 tournaments, she finished second on the team in scoring average and recorded the best finish of her collegiate career at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate, coming in third place. She helped lead the Blue Hose to a season-best runner-up finish. She also fired a career-low 71 in the opening round of the Carolina Challenge Cup. She posted two more top-20 finishes on the season at the Elon Invitational and at the Rivertowne Intercollegiate, finishing T16 and T18 respectively.
A Business Administration major, Peake owns a 3.79 GPA.
TAYLOR REAVES, WOMEN'S GOLF
Reaves had a career year in her final season on the course for the Blue Hose, posting two top-15 finishes. She shot the lowest round of her collegiate career to close out the Rivertowne Intercollegiate, turning in a -1 par 71 to finish the tournament in 11th place. She also had a strong showing at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate, placing T12 and leading Presbyterian to a runner-up team finish. She closed out the spring at the Big South Championship, ending the tournament in a tie for 18th.
An excellent student, Reaves boasts a 3.94 GPA as a Business Administration major. She earned a spot on the Big South All-Academic Team for the third straight year.
JOSHUA ROE, MEN'S WRESTLING
Roe's third season was certainly his busiest, appearing in every dual and tournament minus one and wrestling in the SoCon bracket for the second consecutive year.
He obtained two victories in the Mountaineer Open at Appalachian State and took down his opponent from VMI with a 12-3 major decision.
Joshua has qualified for the Southern Conference Honor Roll twice and was named to the SoCon All-Academic roster last summer. He maintains an impressive 3.93 cumulative GPA in Business Administration.
AVERY WEST, WOMEN'S LACROSSE
The second player in school history to be voted All-Big South First Team in back-to-back seasons, West ends a sensational career with 120 caused turnovers which ranks number two in the all-time Blue Hose record book.
Over her career, she missed just two games out of 67 opportunities. Avery was selected the Big South Defensive Player of the Week twice, going for 39 takeaways and 43 ground ball recoveries throughout her senior year.
A three-time all-leaguer on the field, West graduated from Presbyterian with a degree in Biology and a 3.63 cumulative GPA. She will soon be named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll for the fourth occasion.
