SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
- The Fighting Hawks are in the early stages of year two for head coach Henrik Sohn, who delivered eight wins last season but only a 2-4-2 mark against conference opponents.
- UND was defeated by Minnesota (4-0) and Green Bay (2-1), with a planned third match against Eastern Michigan canceled due to weather.
- Although they scored first in the 50
th minute, North Dakota would give up the next two goals in the Green Bay loss (the tie-breaking boot was clocked at 80:48).
- Held to just two shots over the entire match, the Fighting Hawks were able to stay within striking distance thanks to keeper Thale Ruether's five saves. Twenty different players saw the field overall.
LAST TIME OUT
- In the 2026 opener, Presby cruised past old Division II rival Newberry in front of a lively audience. Senior striker
Emilia Lieber took little time to open up the offense, scoring a 6
th-minute PK to earn the Adidas / Game One PC Student-Athlete of the Week award.
- The Blue Hose defense was impassable on their way to 2-0, giving away a single shot attempt over the whole second period and only three shots across the full 90 minutes.
- Freshman goalie
Alexa Garcia tallied her first shutout in only her second try, going into the North Dakota trip having not given up a goal in the last 175 minutes that she's been on the field.
- Nursing the one-point lead, sophomore
Maddie Smith guided in her third goal of the season in the 61
st minute, a beautiful lift over two defenders in the top corner of the net.
- Smith is one of five players in the Big South who has scored three times already in 2026, trailing only UNC Asheville's Lili Adams for the most total points in the division.
