CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team (6-5) suffered a defeat in its final match of the Queens Fall Classic on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 12), falling to Queens in three sets 16-25, 17-25, 21-25 at Curry Arena.
Anisa Dorlouis recorded 18 assists and 13 digs, leading the team in both categories to log her eighth double-double of the year.
Meredith Reisman led Presbyterian at the net, posting four blocks. Courtney Williams pitched in three blocks to go along with eight kills.
Offensively, Emma McHatten powered the Blue Hose with nine kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE – QUEENS 25, PC 16
- Two blocks from Meredith Reisman and Ashley Dienes kicked off the afternoon for the Blue Hose, helping PC start out with a 4-1 lead. PC stayed in front by a narrow margin early, as two kills by Emma McHatten put Presbyterian up 8-7.
- The tides turned in Queens' favor in the middle of the set, as the Royals grabbed a 17-13 advantage.
- Reisman got PC back within three with a kill down 18-15, but the Royals controlled the rest of the frame. Queens finished the set on a 7-1 run to claim the opening set.
SET TWO – QUEENS 25, PC 17
- Presbyterian jumped out to a quick lead in the second, winning seven of the first nine points. Courtney Williams led the way early with two kills and a block.
- Back-to-back kills from McHatten extended the Blue Hose lead to six up 12-6 before the momentum shifted.
- The Royals embarked on a 13-1 run to flip the script in the frame, going up 19-13 in the set. An attack error got Presbyterian back within five, but Queens took the second set 25-17 to grab a 2-0 lead in the match.
SET THREE – QUEENS 25, PC 21
- Presbyterian once again started out in front, claiming a 7-4 lead after kills by Kaylie Bourn and Williams. The Blue Hose went up five after the first service ace of Reagan Hare's collegiate career.
- However, Queens chipped away at the lead, closing the gap to two down 17-15. A kill by McHatten followed by a service ace from Sophia Verdicchio put PC back up four before the Royals made one more push.
- Queens closed out the match on a 7-1 run to finish the weekend, picking up a 3-0 victory over the Blue Hose.
NOTABLES
- This was the second meeting between the two teams this season. PC defeated the Royals last Saturday (Sept. 5) in four sets in Greenville, S.C.
- Overall, this was the third matchup between the two teams in PC's DI era.
- Anisa Dorlouis registered her eighth double-double of the season.
- Meredith Reisman logged four blocks to lead Presbyterian. She has produced at least four blocks in six matches this season.
- Ashley Dienes made her first career start.
- Amaris Alvarez got the start as libero, making her first start of the year. She posted 10 digs.
- Reagan Hare recorded her first career service ace.
