CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer squad is set for their first home Big South contest on Wednesday night, going head-to-head with Gardner-Webb at 7:00 PM.
ESPN+ will be streaming tomorrow's tussle, the third match of the season at Martin Stadium for head coach
Matt Smith's roster and their second league outing overall after a visit to UNC Asheville last weekend.
One of the best defenses in the Big South will look to prevent one of the strongest offenses, as Presby looks to rebound from a 3-1 setback to Asheville on Saturday. All three of the Bulldogs' goals were submitted in the final 25 minutes.
Wednesday will be the first time that Gardner-Webb makes the trip to Clinton since 2023, a two-nil triumph by the Blue Hose. G-W defeated PC in Boiling Springs last fall, producing the only goal of the match at 78:20.

SCOUTING GARDNER-WEBB
- Opposed to Presbyterian, the Runnin' Bulldogs have not yet played a Big South opponent. They were last seen six days ago in a hard-fought loss to Jacksonville State by a 3-2 margin.
- G-W broke a 1-1 tie with just two minutes before the halftime horn, although Jacksonville State turned the tables by scoring twice in less than three minutes after the break.
- This is the debut season for head coach Samantha Thomsit, spending the previous four years at Division II Spring Hill College. Thus far, only one Big South club has scored more goals than Webb's 18, which is coincidentally UNC Asheville.
- No team in the division is averaging more shots-on-goal per game than Gardner-Webb (seven). Both PC and the Runnin' Bulldogs have two of the top four highest-scoring players in the league: Julia McBridge (G-W) and
Maddie Smith (PC).
LAST TIME OUT
- Speaking of Smith, it was she who scored the first goal of the night in the 51
st minute of the UNC Asheville match. That was her fifth make of the year, receiving an assist from junior Julija Poplašen.
- The Bulldogs broke away from the Blue Hose after PC led for 15 minutes, tying the score at 65:47 and then taking the lead at 67:19.
- Freshman keeper
Alexa Garcia managed to stop five of the eight Asheville shots-on-goal altogether. Presby was unable to land an on-target shot once the home side jumped ahead.
- Not counting the first-half goal that PC scored at Wofford (which was wiped away and declared a no contest because of weather), the Scotsmen have manufactured eight goals while giving up nine.
