GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team (5-2) wrapped up the Furman Invitational on Saturday morning (Sept. 5) at Timmons Arena with another win, securing a thrilling four-set victory over Queens. The Blue Hose found a way to come through in a dramatic first set 33-31 before claiming the match 33-31, 25-21, 20-25, 26-24.
PC trailed 24-22 in the fourth set but came up clutch to avoid a deciding fifth set, winning four straight points to clinch the win over the Royals.
The Presbyterian offensive attack was yet again well-balanced, as four different players produced double-digit kills. Courtney Williams led the Blue Hose with 18, while Emma McHatten (16), Julia Yurkovich (11), and Anisa Dorlouis (10) also reached double figures.
Dorlouis secured her second triple-double of the season, recording 44 assists, 19 digs, and 10 kills.
Celimar Hoyos and McHatten had great days defensively, logging 25 and 18 digs respectively. Brittney Daphnis powered PC up front with five total blocks. Dorlouis, Meredeith Reisman, and Williams each contributed four as well.

SET ONE – PC 33, QUEENS 31
- The first set on Saturday morning began with a bang, featuring 20 ties and 10 total lead changes between the two teams. Both teams stayed right with one another throughout the frame, as neither side led by more than three at any point.
- Presbyterian held a narrow advantage early, leading 10-7 following two kills from Anisa Dorlouis. Queens quickly evened the set at 11 apiece, and the lead started to bounce from one team right back to the other.
- PC inched ahead 20-18 late in the frame before the Royals took four points in a row to go ahead 22-20. The Blue Hose responded to tie the set at 23, but Queens grabbed the ensuing point to create a set point.
- PC saved the set point with a kill from Courtney Williams and would go on to save a total of five more set points. Queens saved two set points of its own, but the Blue Hose finally broke through on their third chance to claim a thrilling first set 33-31.
SET TWO – PC 25, QUEENS 21
- After a dramatic opening set, Queens started strong in the second, building a 7-4 lead. A block and a kill by Brittney Daphnis followed to allow the Blue Hose to immediately respond, tying the set at seven.
- The Royals retook the lead and stayed in front in the middle of the set, owning a 17-12 advantage in the frame. Down five, PC did not waiver, once again going on a run to get back in it. Kills from Julia Yurkovich and Emma McHatten helped the Blue Hose win six of seven points to tie the set at 18.
- Presbyterian continued its momentum down the stretch to claim the second set 25-21. Kills by Amaris Alvarez and Dorlouis sealed the set to put PC up 2-0 over Queens.
SET THREE – QUEENS 25, PC 20
- The Royals jumped in front to begin the third, claiming four of the first five points of the set. Kills by McHatten and Daphnis got PC within one, but Queens answered to go up 10-6.
- Back-to-back service errors helped PC close the gap to just two. Presbyterian remained within two down 15-13 before Queens began to separate.
- The Royals went ahead 18-13 and did not look back, grabbing the third set 25-20 to get on the board. The Blue Hose got within three a couple of times late, but Queens fended off the rally.
SET FOUR – PC 26, QUEENS 24
- Queens surged in front again to open the fourth set, starting the frame with a 6-2 lead. A kill from Yurkovich helped PC tie the set before another run by Queens put the Royals ahead 14-8.
- Presbyterian continued to stay resilient later in the set, using an 8-0 run to take a 19-17 lead, highlighted by multiple kills from Williams and Yurkovich.
- The momentum continued to change, as Queens re-established control. The Royals took the lead back, going up 24-22. Once more, PC had the answer, winning the final four points of the set to clinch the win. A service ace from Dorlouis secured a four-set victory over the Royals in Greenville.
NOTABLES
- This was just the second overall meeting between the two teams. Queens took the lone previous matchup in Spartanburg in 2024.
- Presbyterian has won the opening set in six of its seven matches this season.
- Anisa Dorlouis recorded the second triple-double of her career, finishing with 44 assists, 19 digs, and 10 kills. Her 44 assists are a career-high. Her 19 digs match a season-high.
- Emma McHatten delivered a career day, producing career-highs in kills (16) and digs (18).
- Celimar Hoyos went over 20 digs for the fourth time this year, recording 25.
- Courtney Williams and Julia Yurkovich logged season-highs in kills, producing 18 and 11 respectively.
- Sophia Pheney made her collegiate debut for PC.
- As a team, the Blue Hose finished the day with season-highs in kills (64), assists (62), and total blocks (12).
