CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Presbyterian College football team was selected
seventh in the Big South Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the head
coaches and media members.
The Blue Hose, coming off an 0-11 season in 2009, garnered six sixth-place
votes while having 12 seventh-place nods for 18 total points.
Liberty, which is picked to win the league, amassed 103 total points behind 13
first-place votes. Stony Brook was selected second with 81 points and a
first-place vote while Charleston Southern took home the other first-place
ballot. The Bucs were picked to finish fourth.
Coastal Carolina was chosen third (68 points), Gardner-Webb fifth (54 points)
and VMI sixth (31 points).
PC returns the bulk of its line-up from a season ago after accounting for one
of the youngest teams in the nation a year ago.
The Blue Hose begin practice next week in preparation of the 2010 season, which
begins Sept. 2 at Wake Forest. That game and the Sept. 11 contest at Clemson
can both be viewed on ESPN3.com.
Tickets for both games - and for the 2010 home campaign - are still available.
