Butler Named All-American

Sports Network All-America Teams

PHILADELPHIA
, Pa.
? Presbyterian College's Terrance Butler was chosen to the 2007 Sports Network FCS All-America squad on Monday. Butler was named an Honorable Mention All-American at wide receiver.

Butler's honor marks the first All-America honor for the Blue Hose at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision level. It is the second national recognition for PC in the FCS as Tim Webb (Lugoff, S.C.) was named National Player of the Week by Don Hansen's National Football Gazette after his record-setting performance against North Greenville on Oct. 6, 2007.

Butler (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) concluded his junior season by ending with the sixth-most yards in the FCS with 1,072 yards receiving in 2007.

It was one of three categories in which Butler ranked in the top 20 in the nation. Butler also finished the year 10th in the country in receiving yards per game at an average of 97.45 per outing, while he was 20th in the nation in receptions per game with an average of 5.91 caught per PC contest.

As a team the Blue Hose concluded its first year in the FCS ranked third nationally in both passing yards and total offense.

PC ended the year passing for an average of 347 yards per contest, while also racking up an average of 481.91 total yards of offense during its inaugural FCS season in 2007.

In total as team, PC finished 2007 in the top 15 in four major offensive statistical categories with the Blue Hose 11th in scoring in the nation at 36.80 points per game and 15th in the country in passing efficiency with a rating of 149.18.

Overall, PC in its first NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision season and under Bobby Bentley in 2007 finished with a winning record of 6-5.

The Blue Hose in their first year in the FCS also broke three PC team game records, two PC team season records, three PC individual game records and two PC individual season records.

PC finished the 2007 season with 5,290 yards of total offense to become the first team in school history to claim more than 5,000 total yards in a season. The Blue Hose also scored the most points in school history in 2007, netting 404 points in its 11 games.

The Hurlin' Hose were especially prolific in 2007 in the friendly confines of Bailey Memorial Stadium. The Blue Hose averaged 704 yards of offense per game in its three wins inside Bailey Memorial Stadium in 2007 and set a school record for passing yards in a win over
North Greenville when Tim Webb passed for 648 yards against the Crusaders.

The 648 yards passing by Webb in the Blue Hose victory over the Crusaders garnered the Lugoff, S.C. native national recognition as it would have been the FCS record, but due to PC's transition into NCAA Division I the mark will only go down in the Blue Hose record books.

Nevertheless, Webb's performance was featured in USA Today, SI.com, ESPN.com and The New York Times.

Webb, who finished the year with the best completion percentage in PC history at 73 percent also passed for seven touchdowns in the NGU game, setting the individual school record and tying the total for most touchdown passes in a single PC game as a team as he and Grayson Mullins (Columbia, S.C.) also combined for seven touchdown passes in the win over Pikeville on Sept. 8.

Webb's record-setting day against the Crusaders was just one many Blue Hose records to go down at Bailey Memorial Stadium as the Blue Hose totaled a program-high 795 yards in the win over Pikeville in September.

The Blue Hose single game records are not just confined to the offense as Antwan Thomas (
Hawkinsville, Ga.
) set the Blue Hose record for total tackles in a game with 15 in PC's victory over VMI.

On special teams, field goal kicker and freshman Cam Miller (Lyman, S.C.) set the bar high for himself over the next three years by concluding his first year in a Blue Hose uniform with the best field goal percentage in Blue Hose history at .777 (7-for-9)

Bentley and the Blue Hose renew an old rivalry when they begin year No. 2 in the FCS in 2008, opening the year on Saturday, Aug. 30 against 2007 Southern Conference champion Wofford.
