KENNESAW, Ga. ? The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Kennesaw State on Friday afternoon at the KSU Tennis Complex.
The Blue Hose are now 4-9 on the year, while Kennesaw State is 5-6 on the season.
The doubles point proved to be the difference in the match as PC and Kennesaw State each won three singles matches, but KSU claimed the doubles point by winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
PC's duo of Brittany Lanford (Florence, S.C.) and Abby Diminich (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) won at No. 1 doubles by the score of 8-6 over KSU's Agatha Palider and Ayano Tanaka, but PC could not pick up a win in either of the other doubles matches to lose the overall point despite a strong performance from its three doubles tandems.
PC won at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles. Diminich won her sixth singles match of the 2008 season with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Palider at No. 2 singles, while Megan Davis (Bogart, Ga.) claimed her fifth singles win of the year with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Kennesaw State's Karen Ammann at No. 3 singles.
PC's Virginia Waldron (Mountville, S.C.) won in straight sets at No. 5 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over KSU's Allison Baulis. It was her fourth singles win of the year.
The Blue Hose now have a week off before returning home for the first time in exactly a month for a match with North Alabama at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 28 at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
