CLINTON, S.C. ? Radford went 8-for-13 from behind the arc on Monday evening to propel them to a 40-18 lead over Presbyterian College at halftime. Though the Blue Hose held the Highlanders to 16.7 percent from the perimeter in the second half, PC fell 75-36 at the Templeton Center.
Sophomore point guard Katlin Moore (Fort Mill, S.C./Charlotte Catholic (N.C.)) led the team in scoring for the fifth time this season, contributing 14 points against Radford. She went 6-for-13 from the floor, including two beyond the arc. On the other side of the court, Highlander Johnette Walker tallied 19 points, one short of her season high. Radford had five players score double-digits.
Sophomore guard Amanda Mills (Oregon City, Ore./San Diego Mesa CC) started the evening off with a shot outside the arc to put PC up 3-0 and give the team its only lead of the game. Radford's Rachel Morris sank back-to-back threes to jump to a 6-3 lead. Morris went 3-for-5 from three-point land in the first half while Walker made all four attempts from the perimeter.
Down by 11 with seven minutes left in the half, sophomore Chelsea Wright (Atlanta, Ga./Whitefield Academy) rebounded a missed Radford shot and handed it off to Moore who drilled a pull-up jumper to bring the Blue Hose within nine points (22-13). The Highlanders rebounded with a 13-0 run to establish a 22-point lead. Freshman guard Kristen Stevens (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) stopped the run with a trey off a bounce pass from Moore with just under three minutes to play. The teams went into the locker room with Radford leading 40-18.
Stevens started the second half by draining three 43 seconds into the action. Radford's Kymesha Alston scored 11 of Radford's first 15 points to put away the game and ensure the victory. PC never trailed by less than 21 on its way to a 39-point loss.
Wright had a season-high nine rebounds, topping her eight-rebound performance at UNC Asheville on Jan. 12.
