CLINTON, S.C. ? The Presbyterian College women's
tennis team fell to Radford Saturday afternoon in a Big South Conference
match-up by a 6-1 score.
The Blue Hose are now 2-10 on the season while the Highlanders improve to 10-4.
PC had its
chances to pull out the doubles point against a highly competitive team. At the
top spot, Abby Diminich and Megan Davis pushed Petra Dajevic and Ivana Tomaic
to an 8-6 score. The duoe of Paige Oelke and Heather Isbell was able to knock
off second-seeded Ally Spector and Mia Drobnjak by an 8-6 count, forcing the
decisive doubles point at the No. 3 spot.
At No. 3, Cara Caruso and Daryl Thompson came up short in head coach Tyler
Davis' bid to take the doubles point. The duo fell 8-3 to Mirna Matic and
Christina Hammond.
The team did not give up. In fact, Oelke completed her solid day by taking a
6-4, 6-4 straight set victory over Spector as the No. 5 player.
Sixth-seeded
Thompson lost a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Antonietta Iosue. Caruso, playing as the
No. 4 student-athlete dropped her match by scores of 6-1, 6-3. Isbell, who
missed the last match, returned to the line-up for the Big South foe but was
unable to shake off the rust, falling 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot.
Diminich fell 6-0, 6-1 to Dajevic while No. 3 player Davis dropped a straight
set match by scores of 6-0, 6-0.

Hose will look to get in the win column March 24 when they play host to UNC
Asheville at 2 p.m.
