LYNCHBURG, Va. - Presbyterian
College ran into a stern test on Saturday night against Liberty, falling 73-27 to
the Flames at the Vines Center. High
scoring honors for the Blue Hose went to freshman Mariah Pietrowski with six
points.
Liberty came out of the locker room hot from the start,
outshooting PC 75 percent to 17 percent in the first eight minutes to give the
Flames a 17-2 lead at the second media timeout.
Coming out of the timeout, PC was able to answer with six
points to cut the Liberty lead to 11 points at 19-8 with 7:52 left in the first
half. Unfortunately for the Blue Hose,
Liberty rattled off a 17-2 run to close the first half and leave PC in a 36-10
hole at the break.
The second half went much the same way for the Blue Hose who
were outscored 37-17 in the second stanza.
Freshmen Devin Fothergill and Shonda Burnside each added five points to
PC's tally.
The scoring output for the Blue Hose was the second lowest
of the season, just two points better than the game against Wake Forest.
Kristen Stevens swiped four steals for a new career high in
that department.
The Blue Hose now head west to Radford for a matchup against
the Highlanders on Monday evening. The
Big South tilt starts at 7 p.m. at Radford's Dedmon Center.
