Blue Hose Fall On Senior Day to High Point, 5-1

CLINTON, S.C. - Presbyterian College men's soccer was unable to defeat High Point Saturday evening in the last home date of the year, falling by a 5-1 score in front of 299 fans.

The Blue Hose now stand at 2-10-1 overall and 0-6 in Big South play. The Panthers move to 11-3-1 overall and 6-0 in league action.

The visitors wasted little time getting on the board as Fejiro Okiomah took a Scott Rojo pass just 33 seconds in and placed the ball in the back of the net from 10 yards out for a 1-0 lead.

After a Shane Malcolm score in the ninth minute, head coach Bret Boulware's team fought back, pulling within one nine minutes later. Byron Quinatoa played the ball through to the penalty box and Harrison Russell took the pass, rifling a shot past Michael Chesler from six yards out to make the score 2-1.

Despite pushing forward, PC was unable to get the equalizer in the opening stanza. With just five minutes to play in the half, Rojo and Okiomah connected again for a 3-1 halftime advantage.

In the 69th minute Rojo scored a goal of his own when he ran down the goal line and scored a tough angle shot across the face of goal.  The goal gave him four points for the night.

The Panthers went 5-1 up on 77 minutes with Ryan Bennett's goal off a run down the defensive flank.  Bennett's goal also came from a tough angle shot, sneaking between the post and the goalkeeper.

James Neal went the first 72 minutes in goal before being replaced for the final 18 minutes by William Redmond who started the match in the field.  Neal made five saves and allowed four goals while Redmond made one save and allowed one goal.

PC trailed 32-7 in the shots department with a 11-3 lead in shots on goal.

The Blue Hose travel for the final three matches of the season.  PC visits Davidson next Saturday at 7 p.m.
